Resident Evil 6 Rated For Xbox One And PlayStation 4

Resident Evil 6 Rated For Xbox One And PlayStation 4

Well it looks like Capcom might be looking to resurrect yet another last-gen game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as Resident Evil 6 has been rated for both of those consoles in Korea.

If a game is going to rise from the dead and come back to haunt modern players, it makes sense that is would be the Resident Evil series, which is utterly packed with all sorts of undead monstrosities.

News of Resident Evil 6 's possible exhumation comes to us from Gematsu, who inform us that the game officially been listed for rating by the Korean Rating Board.

Resident Evil 6 first crawled onto the scene in 2012 when it launched for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was then launched on PCthe following year. The most recent chapter in the tale of Racoon City and its deadly (and eventually global) zombie outbreak, it makes sense that Capcom would want to use an updated version of the game to build buzz for their upcomingfirst person shooter, Umbrella Corps .

Early reports point to Umbrella Corps being a first-person online shooter, which would certainly be a dramatic departure from the Resident Evil formula. Then again, many would argue that the series has been “dramatically departed” from its formula following Resident Evil 3 . The series became less about surviving a deadly outbreak with limited resources and more about action-heavy encounters, stylish cutscenes and ridiculous characters.

It's a bit odd that Capcom would want to focus on bringing Resident Evil 6 to modern consoles since it didn't receive the warmest of welcomes when it was originally launched. It sits at a 67 critic score on Metacritic, which isn't exactly terrible, but fans have the game listed at a much lower 49. Then again, maybe they'll be adding in some fun new features that will convince naysayers to give Resident Evil 6 a second try. Either way, bringing an old game back from the dead on newer consoles is pretty much common practice these days, so I suppose I shouldn't be too shocked if Resident Evil 6 joins those ranks.

As always, we're interested in hearing what our readers have to say on this matter. Did you miss out on Resident Evil 6 and would you welcome a remastered version on newer consoles? Did you love the original game and see a second purchase in your future? Are you in the camp that feels like maybe Capcom should have picked another title, maybe one that was well received, to bring to the new generation? If so, what game would you like to play a remastered version of? Let us know in the comments section below.

New Resident Evil Shooter Trailer Shows Off A Perplexing Addition To The Franchise

New Resident Evil Shooter Trailer Shows Off A Perplexing Addition To The Franchise

There was a time when Resident Evil was a really solid video game franchise.

was a really solid video game franchise. The third-person shooter was a fantastic competitor against rival survival horror franchises like Silent Hill , and it introduced zombies in a whole new way—and even made them more terrifying. But with the newest trailer announcing a new Resident Evil game, Umbrella Corps , it’s a little difficult to understand exactly which direction the series is going in.  You can view the trailer below.

Here’s what I understand from watching the trailer. For the longest time, Resident Evil has been a third-person survival horror adventure, but Umbrella Corps wants to try to turn it into a competitive shooter like Call Of Duty --basically, a spin-off set in the Resident Evil universe. And here’s why I think that’s a horrible decision. From what I understand by watching the trailer, you will be battling other human beings on a decrepit battleground very much like in Call Of Duty and Battlefield , and zombies will just be running around as an added opponent. Where is the true Resident Evil nature in this?

Resident Evil was built around the idea that zombies were invading Raccoon Cityand you had to fight to stop that invasion and protect the people. But now, it’s been turned into a mindless competitive shooter that won’t even be able to compare to the multitude of success Call Of Duty has seen with its zombie modes. It’s almost as if Capcom just wanted to transform Resident Evil into something more appealing to a different audience, but in the process they had no idea they’d be maddening the true Resident Evil fanbase. At least I’m maddened.

It’s almost like if someone took the Silent Hill franchise, with its glorious horror environment and hellish enemies, and dropped a Call Of Duty multiplayer campaign in the middle of the town and said “Here, go crazy.” The monsters would still be around to thwart you in the heat of combat, but it would no longer be about the monsters. Just as Umbrella Corps will no longer be just about the zombies. Of course, Resident Evil has been on a rough road for awhile now, but at least the gameplay still centered around the idea of zombies and not just about competing against other human players online.

The single-player mode doesn’t even do the franchise justice. Because even then, it still feels like another Call Of Duty game. And there’s nothing wrong with Call Of Duty . It’s great for what it is, maybe one of the best first-person shooters out there, but Call Of Duty is its own thing. When Resident Evil tries to do the zombie thing too, just not as well, it’s disheartening.

Now I don’t want to completely judge the game before playing it—I’d love to review the game to see how it truly plays and if the gameplay is more rewarding than I judged from the trailer. I also understand the game is not a Resident Evil game, but set in the Resident Evil universe. I get that. And when I think about it as a separate entity from the Resident Evil franchise, then it doesn't sound so bad, because then I'm thinking about it as a competitive team shooter and not as a Resident Evil game. It all comes down to me actually taking some time to play the game and seeing for myself how I feel about it. Because, as a separate game, it probably could be a lot of fun to use the crazy weapons like the Brainer showcased in the first trailer.

As a long-time fan of classic Resident Evil games, it’s hard to see the franchise changing so much, and not for the better, even with spin-offs like this. I only hope that Resident Evil can find its way again in the horror genre without having to pump out another reboot.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate's Jack the Ripper DLC might be coming soon

Assassin's Creed Syndicate's Jack the Ripper DLC might be coming soon

Despite only being out for a month, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s first major DLC might already be on the way if a recent Achievement list posting is anything to go by.

Ubisoft has been teasing the Jack the Ripper DLC since before the game’s release and is most likely the first expansion due out. These trophy/achievement lists are often discovered when a game is on the verge  of coming out, so it is safe to assume that Ubisoft is preparing for the launch.

While it was assumed that the DLC would task the player with hunting down one of history’s most famous serial killers, the trophy descriptions have put some of that into doubt. With a description such as “Scare an enemy and make him kill someone else by mistake,” who’s to say we won’t be stepping into the killer’s shoes?

Ultra Street Fighter 4's PS4 Version Supports Your Old Fightstick

Ultra Street Fighter 4's PS4 Version Supports Your Old Fightstick

Whenever new games come out or new hardware comes out, one of the big problems is that some of the old accessories you've become acquainted with oftentimes don't work with newer games.

Whenever new games come out or new hardware comes out, one of the big problems is that some of the old accessories you've become acquainted with oftentimes don't work with newer games. Well, for Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PS4, the game will work with older fightsticks.

Over on the PlayStation blogsthird-party production director at SCEA, Gio Corsi, made the comments about how the Ultra Street Fighter IV for the PS4 will be backward compatible with licensed PS3 fightsticks. This was highlighted along with a new launch trailer for the game that you can check out below.

Ultra Street Fighter IV is due for release on May 26th for the PS4, and in addition to enabling gamers to bring their favorite PS3 fightstick along for the ride, from MadCatz to Hori to everything else in between.

Capcom and Sony are pretty pumped about the release of the game, which is a leveled-up rendition of Super Street Fighter IV , which itself was an upgrade over Street Fighter IV . Yeah, it's Capcom... what did you expect?

For the PS4 rendition of the game – an exclusive console port that isn't available on the Xbox One by the way – they've gone and decided to hone in on the Holy Grail of eighth-gen, the golden chalice of gaming: 1080pat 60fps.

It doesn't mention on the blog if it's hard-locked at 60fps, but if it is then that's a great thing because hard-locked 60fps gameplay for Street Fighter IV would be pretty sweet. The game would definitely benefit from the smooth gameplay.

Even still, 60fps without drops would make for a perfect way to see the game in action at this year's EVO, assuming the tournament organizers are willing to feature Ultra Street Fighter IV on PS4s.

The game will also feature all of the costume DLC for the game that has been released for the series up to this point. This also includes the latest DLC clothing packs for the game, which means you have the Vacation and Wild costume packs to consider as well. It's kind of telling that Street Fighter IV has been supported by Capcom for the entirety of the seventh generation of gaming and all the way into eighth gen. Crazy, right?

The devs have also addressed some minor input lag that was present in the PS3 versions of Street Fighter IV when it came to the fightstick support, so that minor issue is being addressed.

You won't have to wait long to get your hands on Ultra Street Fighter IV , which includes many of your favorite characters, including the new faces such as Rolento and Decapre, as well as Ryu, Ken and the rest of the gang.

You can grab a few more details about the game and the fightstick compatibility by visiting the official website.

How Street Fighter 5 Is Different From Street Fighter 4

How Street Fighter 5 Is Different From Street Fighter 4

Capcom hasn't said too much about Street Fighter 5 since announcing it in December.

since announcing it in December. In a new interview, franchise producer Yoshinori Ono broke the silence and shared a few hints about what we can expect from the new-gen fighting game.

Ono told Edgethat Street Fighter 5 will build on the foundation from SF4 . He says it's going to be larger than the older game as a result: We’ve been working on Street Fighter 4 for the past seven years now. There’s been a lot of rebalancing and so on, but the game is still going strong, even today. All this means that, with Street Fighter 5 , we have a fantastic opportunity to create something with a larger scope, a game that encompasses all that Street Fighter has become in the last few years, but which also expands on that to become something it has never been before as well. So now we want to create something that nobody is expecting. It’s going to be a title that caters to fans, of course, but one that also invites completely new players onto the scene.

Street Fighter 4 was about reviving a passion. Street Fighter 5 is about growing that passion.
The other big difference that Ono mentioned between the two games is that Street Fighter 5 was a "hundred times easier" to start than SF4 .

"The passion around Street Fighter is currently such that the internal team within Capcom has been incredibly eager. There have been far fewer obstacles and far less stress."

It's hard to imagine Capcom ever putting up resistance to a new Street Fighter , considering it's one of their biggest franchises. The years of Street Fighter 4 re-releases make it easy to forget the near-decade wait for the base game, though. The Capcom brass were skeptical of making another numbered sequel in the series back in the early 2000s. It's not surprising that their attitude would change after they made millions off SF4 , Super Street Fighter 4 , Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Ultra Street Fighter IV .

Street Fighter 4 will be released on PS4 and PC. Due to an exclusivity deal hammered out by Sony and Capcom, the game won't be debuting on Xbox One. The game will allegedly launch next Spring.

We don't know much about the content of the game. The early gameplay footage did confirm that long-time characters Ryu and Chun-Liwill be part of the roster, along with a redesigned Charlie Nash.

Street Fighter V Just Ran Into Some Major Problems

Street Fighter V Just Ran Into Some Major Problems

If you were one of the lucky participants to get into the Street Fighter V beta, you're in for a bit of bad news.

Unfortunately, following a spell of poor server performance and stability issues, Capcom has announcedthat it is officially postponing its beta testing phase for Street Fighter Vuntil further notice. That's pretty frustrating if you hadn't gotten into the betayet of course, but just think about if you had gotten in and had to stop because of all the problems with the servers. Somehow, that seems to make it all worse.

Over on Capcom Unity, Capcom Associate Producer Peter Rosas made a blog post explaining that this beta isn't really a "true" test for the game, and that Capcom is planning on holding three additional tests for the game:

"Capcom offers its sincerest apologies to everyone who participated in this first beta test.  While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for."

Seemingly as a show of good will for those who missed out, anyone who preordered the game and received beta access will be included in the next test, as well as some kind of incentive for throwing their hats into the ring, and subsequently being forced out, as it were. Yours truly was interested in being involved as well, but I hadn't been able to give it a spin thus far.

"We understand how frustrating it is to be so close to playing the game you are excited for, and to not have it working," said Rosas. "The whole team here is very disappointed that we were unable to deliver a proper beta experience this time. Thank you so much for your continued support, and we promise that we will have a better experience for you with the future betas."

The beta kicked off on July 23, but almost immediately after it launched it succumbed to server issues that required Capcom'sattention, eventually culminating in a full takedown of the servers themselves. Originally the maintenance window was only supposed to take a few days, but the problems going on were too severe for Capcom to fix on such short notice.

It's been a while since we saw the game at E3, but we'll be waiting a little longer to finally get our hands on the finished product, which should have plenty in storefor fans of the genre. The full game is projected for launch next year on both PC and PlayStation 4, so there's still plenty of time left to figure out all the kinks, but hopefully this doesn't result in any delays for the fan-favorite fighter.

Street Fighter 5 Gameplay Trailer Confirms Ken's Return

Street Fighter 5 Gameplay Trailer Confirms Ken's Return

Capcom released a new trailer for Street Fighter V that shows Ken Masters going toe-to-toe with Birdie.

that shows Ken Masters going toe-to-toe with Birdie. The trailer also reveals his completely overhauled moveset, which seems to match his completely overhauled visual look. You can check out the trailer below, from the official Street Fighter channel.

There's a lot to talk about in that trailer, notwithstanding the glimpse at what looks like E. Honda at the very end of the trailer. But the main thing is that Ken no longer looks or fights like a slightly faster Ryu clone.

Hardcore members of the FGC scene could rattle off pages of differences between Ryu and Ken on a microcosmic gameplay level but to the average casual gamers both Ryu and Ken were practically the same save for the fact that Ken was viewed as the “American” version of Ryu.

The trailer above completely destroys the notion that Ken is just an alternate version of Ryu. In fact, this trailer makes Ken look like a completely different beast and for the first time in a long time I might be inclined to make Ken a main. Heck, just for reference I haven't used Ken seriously since the original Street Fighter II – ever since then I've always viewed him as a faster, weaker version of Ryu.

Here, however, Ken has some serious moves that completely separates him from his purebred Japanese counterpart. The reliance on air-juggles with his new flaming spin-kicks and a focus on transitioning from neutral combos to air techs is pretty cool. We get to see how Ken can close the gap with an all new divekick special, as well as still maintaining control of the air game with his flaming dragon uppercut.

In previous Street Fighter games Ken was good but usually as a counter-character if you were going against someone who relied on air-techs and had sparse zoning capabilities. Here, Ken looks like he has some fierce combo options both in the air and on the ground. I'm thoroughly impressed with how Capcom was able to turn Ken into what looks like a very versatile and dangerous pugilist on the Street Fighter V roster.

Personally, I still think that Charlie captures a strong presence when it comes controlling screen real estate. Charlie's combos seem to stretch across the screen and he has a lot of different moves that not only close the gap but also work as initiators for ground, neutral and air combos. Personally, Charlie still looks like the total package in Street Fighter V without being cheap.

Of course, not everything comes without its fair share of criticisms. Ken was nagged on a bit for his new 1990s-Gary Daniels inspired hair-style. Actually, come to think of it Ken's new kick-focused combos and flaming spin attacks do seem awfully reminiscent of Gary Daniels' fighting style.

Anyway, just about everyone loves Ken's new clothes, but they feel he looks “too Asian/Mexican/Indian”. Hopefully Ken will get his blue eyes back because they really helped define the look of the character.

You can look for Street Fighter V to launch next year for the PS4 and PC.

Street Fighter 5 PC Beta Is Coming This Fall

Street Fighter 5 PC Beta Is Coming This Fall

Capcom has rolled out their plans for the Street Fighter V beta for both the PC and the PS4.

beta for both the PC and the PS4. For PC gamers the beta will get underway starting this fall. As previously reported, for PS4 gamers the beta starts much sooner but you'll have to pre-order the game to get in.

Over on the official Capcom Unity blogCombofiend explains that the beta will commence for PC users later this year, but details aren't available right now...
The first Beta is exclusive to PlayStation 4, so the below instructions only apply to this initial test. The first PC Beta test will start this fall, and we will post up further details on the PC Beta at a later date.
The first beta test for the PS4 will get underway July 23rd next month.

Unfortunately the only way to guarantee access to the beta is by pre-ordering the game. So if you want to play-test Street Fighter V you will have to commit to a purchase beforehand.

In North America only GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy and the official PSN store will grant eligibility into the Street Fighter V beta program. Keys will be sent out on July 20th and you can redeem and download the beta client from July 20th onward.

In Latin America you can only gain access to the beta by pre-ordering through the PlayStation Network. There are no retailer specific campaigns to join the beta for Street Fighter V . The code redemption date is the same as in North America – July 20th.

For Europe and other EMEA regions you'll need to sign up through the special European PSN link. However, you won't be guaranteed beta access and only select gamers from designated regions will be allowed beta participation.

For Asia you'll have to download a ticket between July 9th and July 14th in various Southeast Asian territories and select users will receive a key on July 21st. For Japan you'll have to access the PlayStation store and download a beta ticket as well between July 8th and July 13th. Once again, selected users will receive their codes starting July 21st.

Street Fighter V is the latest game in the series and takes a lot of visual liberties in challenging how gamers have previously viewed the series. Capcom has also included more interactive stage elements and even faster gameplay than before.

One of the really big new changes is in the game's exclusivity to PS4 and PC. It really took many gamers by surprise that Capcom would land that kind of deal with Sony but now it means that whenever Street Fighter V will tour around in the FGC scene, they're going to have to use PS4 units as opposed to relying on Xbox 360 and Xbox One units. That's a huge boon for Sony when it comes to selling hardware to the dedicated fighting community.

You can look for the game to launch on PC and PS4 next year in March. And be sure to keep an eye out for details on the beta test for PC this fall.

Ultra Street Fighter 4 Is Free This Weekend

Ultra Street Fighter 4 Is Free This Weekend

Capcom has Ultra Street Fighter IV up and available for free this weekend on Steam.

up and available for free this weekend on Steam. Gamers who have not already given the game a try can do so this weekend completely free of charge. The game is also 66% off so if you decide that you like what you've played you can purchase the game for the low-low price of only $10.

The free weekend is promoted on Steam at the moment for Ultra Street Fighter IV . If you don't own the game you can pick it up for 66% off the normal price for only $10.19. If you do already own the original Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition , you can upgrade your copy to the Ultra Street Fighter IV rendition at 66% off for only $5.09.

In addition to the base game being discounted by 66% off, all of the game's additional DLC are also discounted. This includes the Ultra Street Fighter IV: 2014 Challengers Costume Pack and the Ultra Street Fighter IV: Shoryuken Vacation Pack .

Capcom has been rolling out DLC for the game for years and now they have it spaced across various compilation packs and bundles.

Ultra Street Fighter IV came out last August, following on Capcom's previous re-release of the game as Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition , which was actually a re-release of Super Street Fighter IV , which was a re-release of Street Fighter IV .The different iterations of the game are about identical to how Capcom handled the original Street Fighter II , which had various iterations as well, including Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Figher II Hyper Edition, Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II: Championship Edition ... to name but a few.

Capcom is notorious for re-releasing their games in multiple iterations, usually a new one every year or a new one every six months. It took them seven years before they actually released Street Fighter III .

At the moment they're hard at work on Street Fighter V . The game is scheduled to release on PC and PS4 in 2016. The title takes advantage of today's tech by giving the characters a complete visual overhaul. No longer do they have the cartoony, watercolor-inspired look from Street Fighter IV .

The new game has had a few characters revealed, including Ryu, Chun-Li, M. Bison, a very physically altered and much darker Charlie Nash, Birdie and a completely overhauled Ken Masters. Ken, by the way, has probably been the most polarizing and talked about character so far, only because some people are really all-in on his new new hairdo and under-armor getup. As far a his moves go, there's only positivity surrounding his new flaming kick abilities and his distinct separation from Ryu in this newest game. But that's a year away from release.

For now, gamers who have not already managed to get a taste of Street Fighter IV or any of its following iterations can get in on the action this weekend, for free. Ultra Street Fighter IV can be acquired from over on the Steam store.

Capcom Responds To BBB Complaints: No Distinction Between DLC And Disc-Locked Content

Capcom Responds To BBB Complaints: No Distinction Between DLC And Disc-Locked Content

While most major sites are sitting around their cushy leather chairs demeaning gamers with ridiculous five-minute editorials starting or ending with this year's overused keyword, "entitlement", gamers and fed-up consumers have been going to the Better Business Bureau about the rising tide of consumer mistreatment from companies like Electronic Arts and Capcom.

In the case of Capcom, they've actually responded to some of these complaints and their response has always been the same: There's no distinction between downloadable content and disc-locked content. In other words, expect to get screwed some more in future releases.

There have been numerous complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau regarding Capcom's latest antics involving the disc-locked contentfor Street Fighter X Tekken, several consumers received the following response from Capcom, which is verbatim of the Better Business Bureau's case # 57217509, where Capcom says...
At Capcom, we value our customers and make every effort to resolve customer complaints. We are sorry to hear that [ censored ] was so disappointed with the Street Fighter x Tekken game (''SFxT''), and would like to respond to his complaints.

SFxT has an enormous amount of content, fully developed and available for play and enjoyment immediately on-disc. Given the 38 characters available for full play, as well as multiple play modes, SFxT provides great value for all players from day one. While Capcom is sorry that some of its fans are not happy about the chosen method of delivery for the DLC, we believe that this method will provide more flexible and efficient gameplay throughout the game's lifecycle. There is effectively no distinction between the DLC being ''locked'' behind the disc and available for unlocking at a later date, or being available through a full download at a later date, other than delivery mechanism.
We hope that this addresses [ censored ]' concerns.
For the most part, Capcom makes it known that disc-locked content is par for downloadable content. Seemingly, to them, completed content stored on the discis no different than content released for a game post-launch that you receive off a server. In such terms, we almost have to ask then: how much DLC in past games was legitimately DLC and simply not content stored on servers until the appropriated date?

While hackers revealed that Jill and Shuma Gorath from Marvel Vs Capcom 3 were incomplete until the download was made available, given Capcom's pass on disc-locked content and downloadable content being different, does it mean it was completed and stripped from the game the same way that the content was for Street Fighter X Tekken and Asura's Wrath ?

Those who initially filed complaints were unsatisfied with the results and have sought to amend their complaints. This rings especially in favor for the lack of advertised features for the Xbox 360, such as pair-play, which enables gamers to locally team up and play cooperatively online.

So far, Capcom has yet to issue a response to the Better Business Bureau on the lack of pair-play and why the feature was advertised but not implemented. For the rest of the community, we were fed the unsubstantiated truth that the team ran out of time and resources, even though they had more than enough time to include additional Gems, preset combos for each of the characters, 12 extra fighters, two alternate outfits for all 50 characters and 56 locked colors. That's not to mention that before that Capcom blamed Microsoft and the Xbox 360for the lack of pair-play, which simply was not true.

While Capcom has been behind some popular titles as a publisher, this blatant disregard for consumer value basically lets us know that they're in it to win it, and consumer satisfaction obviously isn't the prize.

Stay classy, Capcom. Stay classy.

Many gamers across the web have already compared the gumballs to BioShock's plasmids, the special little spheres that opened up the ability to utilize all sorts of interesting new abilities and powers.

The new zombie mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 also seems to take a huge step away from all the high-tech gear featured in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare . There are no Exo-Zombies this time around and all the weaponry fits in line with the 1940s film-noir motif that Treyarch is going with for the feature.

For now, gamers are quite excited about the new zombie mode... but then again they always are.

In a way it feels like it's coming very close on the heels of the second episode for the Exo-Zombies in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , even though the newest game isn't due for release until this November. One of the big issues is that Activision seems to be promoting new DLC that isn't out yet while selling some current DLC for another game. I suppose that's their way of getting around not releasing two Call of Duty games in a single year?

Anyway, PlayStation 4 owners will gain access to Black Ops 3 first when the beta goes live this August. Xbox and PC owners will be able to get their hands on the beta some time after the initial beta test but before the game launches this November.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will make an appearance at SDCC and there's a special charity-raising program going on in collaboration with the CoD Endowment where some lucky gamer could end up in the zombie mode as an actual zombie. You can learn more by visiting the official website.

Rainbow Six Siege Beta Launches Today

Rainbow Six Siege Beta Launches Today

Rainbow Six Siege 's closed beta begins today on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

begins today on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The test lets players try out a range of content from the multiplayer shooter for a limited time.

Siege Beta testers will have access to two Team Deathmatch modes starting today. In "Secure Area," a team defends a biochemical agent at a fixed location while attackers must either hold that location for 10 seconds or eliminate the enemies. Defenders can win by either holding out until time expires or killing all the attackers. The "Bomb" mode tasks the attackers with defusing one of two bombs before time runs out. The defenders can win by stopping that from happening.

On September 25th, Ubisoftwill add Terrorist Hunt Classic mode to the mix. This co-op mode asks five players to hunt down and kill all enemies in a given area. There are three different difficulty levels for this mode. The enemies' skill and equipment will improve as you make your way from Normal to Hard to Realistic difficulty.

These modes are playable in day or night on three different maps: House- "Set in the suburbs of the United States, the House is the smallest of all maps featured in the game, but Rainbow Six Siege is all about short range confrontations and indoor environments, and it’s a prime example of destructive depth and replayability." Hereford - "Hereford Base is the home of the legendary SAS counter-terrorist unit, and also secretly houses Team Rainbow. Rainbow’s training house on the ground is essentially a square building, but the layout differs on each floor, creating a wide variety of breach and defense opportunities and engagement situations." Consulate - "The Consulate is located in Abidjan, the economic capitol of Ivory Coast. While the exterior is surrounded by beautiful gardens, the large and sprawling building is a fortress. While imposing, its large size can create a challenge for defenders as it offers many different entry points for the attacking team."Players can become 14 unique characters during your missions. Each operatorpossesses unique gadgets and abilities. For example, Fuze can plant a cluster charge to blow up unsuspecting enemies on the other side of the wall while IQ is able to detect electronic equipment. Players can also choose to become a Recruit, a blank slate that doesn't have any unique abilities of his own but can be customized to a greater extent.

The closed beta will run until Monday, September 28th. Your limited time with the test might be hampered by technical problems, though. Ubisoft says that the purpose of the beta is to try out the game's matchmaking and infrastructure. They want that you could experience some issues when trying to start matches.

Gamers who pre-order Rainbow Six Siege are guaranteed access to the beta test. There was also a waiting listfor players who registered at the website.

Classic Resident Evil Games Will Be Coming To Xbox One And PS4 Soon

Classic Resident Evil Games Will Be Coming To Xbox One And PS4 Soon

Capcom is known for squeezing every drop of revenue out of a franchise for as much as possible before shelving it, and they're certainly looking to do just that with Resident Evil .

. They have announced that there will be remakes inbound for three of their most recent survival horror games.

Game Informeris reporting that Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 are all getting the HD remaster treatment for the Xbox One and PS4. Capcom released a new trailer to announce the remastered versions of the game that you can check out below.

The three games will be released throughout this year, with the first re-release on the Xbox One and PS4 being Resident Evil 6 on March 29th, next month. They don't mention if there will be anything special about the re-releases other than being made available on the Xbox One and PS4. I would like to assume that all of the post-release DLC and pre-order DLC will also be included in the final package. It would be a real shame if gamers had to pay extra for those.

Later in the summer, Capcom plans on releasing Resident Evil 5 for Microsoft and Sony's consoles and then in the fall Resident Evil 4 will be re-released for what seems like the 10th time now. The game is arguably one of the most popular Resident Evil titles ever, but the game has been re-released so often that it would seem like it may have lost some of the appeal. Then again it's probably the one Resident Evil title I've conquered more times than any other, so it's not like it wasn't a good game.

This news follows a series of other re-releases by Capcom in the Resident Evil series, including the recently re-released Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster , which is a remastered version of the HD release of the game that came out for the Wii following its original release on the GameCube.

Previous to that Capcom did an HD remake of the original Resident Evil starring Jill and Chris, which went on to sell quite well for the home consoles and on Steam for PC.

Last year, the company announced that they would be working on a complete remake of the original Resident Evil 2 , which seemed to be the only one in the series that hasn't been remastered, remade or brought into the HD arena. Some modders and amateur game designers have been using newer assets to work on Unreal Engine-powered versions of Resident Evil 2 , which had the internet abuzz about a possible, official HD release of the game. After some coaxing by one of the producers at the company, the executives at Capcom eventually gave the green light to approve for an official remake of Resident Evil 2 . It will be interesting to see how that turns out.

For now you can look for the re-release of Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 to release throughout this year for the Xbox One and PS4.

Resident Evil Zero HD Lets You Become Albert Wesker

Resident Evil Zero HD Lets You Become Albert Wesker

The upcoming re-release of Resident Evil Zero is going to let players become the series' long-time villain Albert Wesker.

is going to let players become the series' long-time villain Albert Wesker. The new Wesker Mode lets you become him during the campaign.

Wesker Mode swaps out Billy Coen for Albert. Rebecca Chambers is still the other character but is wearing a bad-ass black outfit to match her new partner. If new character skins were the extent of the mode, I'm sure plenty of Resident Evil fans would be happy. Who doesn't like a chance to become the bad guy?

However, playing as Wesker is a whole new experience. He has some of the superpowers he acquired in later Resident Evil games. The trailer shows him running around with lightning speed and zapping zombies with lasers from his eyes. It's possible that he has other tricks up his sleeve but even those two abilities should make your play-through pretty easy.

Wesker has been playable in spin-offs like Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Mercenaries 3D . This Wesker Mode is, to my knowledge, the first time players have been able to control him for the entirety of a main series game, though. It's a nice reward for long-time Resident Evil fans.

Resident Evil Zero is set before the first game in the series. STARS' Bravo Team has been sent to the Arklay Mountains outside of Raccoon City to investigate a string of murders. After being unexpectedly separated from her team, Rebecca Chambers is forced to team up with escaped convict Billy Coen to fight off the various monsters now inhabiting the area.

Capcompreviously revealed that they're touching up the graphics of the game as well. Wesker Mode is the first brand-new feature they've announced for the re-release thus far. It could be the only new addition to so I hope you enjoy it.

Resident Evil Zero will be sold with the recent Resident Evil remakein a PS4 and Xbox One bundle called Resident Evil Origins Collection . The Origins Collection will be available starting January 19th for $39.99.

Sometime in "early 2016," Capcom will also begin selling Resident Evil Zero on its own for $19.99 on PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC and Xbox 360.

Halo 5 TV Commercial Claims Master Chief Is Dead

Halo 5 TV Commercial Claims Master Chief Is Dead

Part of the promotional campaign for Halo 5 is a series of live-action trailers that Microsoft and 343 Industries has been using to hype the game up.

is a series of live-action trailers that Microsoft and 343 Industries has been using to hype the game up. The latest live-action commercial for the game has ONI claiming that the Master Chief, John-117, is dead.

The TV spot was posted over on the XboxYouTube channel. It's a short minute long trailer that you can check out below.

Most of the people who have read the novels already know that the trailer above is ONI spreading propaganda. Why? Because the UNSC was never supposed to state that a Spartan “died” on the battlefield. They were always labeled as “missing in action”. It was a morale tactic to give soldiers hope that the Covenant could never kill a Spartan in combat and that by putting “MIA” for their status instead of “KIA”, it would give the troops the impression that the Spartan could return some time down the road.

Funnily enough, on a few occasions the “MIA” tactic was actually true. Some of the Spartans did go missing in action but eventually made a return to combat, including Kelly, Sam, Linda and John.

Some of the people who haven't read the books are likely confused about the trailer above but that probably just adds to the intrigue.

Halo 5 will play heavily on the themes of abandonment and treason. The game will feature two separate campaign modes, one of which includes Agent Locke who gets upgraded to Spartan status and the other featuring Blue Team, led by the Master Chief.

The game is said to be twice as long as the campaign of Halo 4 , presumably since you'll be playing through the perspective of two different groups.

The dual campaign is a give and take scenario, however. The game will allow up to four players to cooperatively play through the campaign together but this outing does not allow for the standard split-screen features that all the previous games had.

The lack of split-screen in Halo 5 had a lot of long time fans thoroughly disappointed with the game before it even launched. Microsoftand 343 cited reasons of attempting to attain maximum quality for the game's graphics as part of the reason that the feature had to be removed, but Phil Spencer, the Xbox boss, also cited that more people just prefer playing online, which is why the feature was removed.

The big question is will the lack of some features and the inclusion of the dual campaign be able to compensate for it?

Microsoft also has big plans for the game in the e-sports arena so even if the game loses some face with the co-op crowd who were really hoping that split-screen would be returning, they'll attempt to make up for it with a big pot for a tournament in Halo 5 later this year.

Halo 5 is due for launch on October 27th exclusively for the Xbox One.

What Could This New Resident Evil Game Be?

What Could This New Resident Evil Game Be?

It looks like a new Resident Evil game could be in the works, as Capcom has filed a trademark for Biohazard Umbrella Corps for Japan and Europe.

It’s a well-known fact that zombies just won’t stay down. No matter how many times you try to kill them, they always seem to crawl back for more. That’s been the case for the undead-focused Resident Evil series for about 15 years now, with numbered iterations and a handful of spin-offs and lightgun games popping up every couple of years.

Like clockwork, it seems like everyone’s favorite undead-blasting simulator has returned from the grave once again, if a new trademark from Capcom is to be believed.

The trademark first went up on the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market website, which was then spotted by the eagle-eyed folks at GameSpot. As you might have guessed, a lot of the information we have so far is speculation; but at least its speculation built on some pretty solid facts.

For starters, the patent was originally for a game called Umbrella Corps , which brings up images of that sinister military/science corporation that’s been creating zombies and all sorts of other monstrosities for over a decade. The folks over at DualShockers, though, happened to take note of a change that occurred when the item moved to the Japanese Patent and Trademark Office, where it is now listed as Biohazard Umbrella Corps. This pretty much removes any doubt that the game is a Resident Evil title, as it’s known as Biohazard overseas.

Unfortunately, that’s about all of the details we have at this time, as Capcomuttered a peep on the matter. With Gamescom set for early next month and Tokyo Game Show taking place in September, there are still a couple of perfect opportunities for an official announcement to be made this year. Now the question remains: What type of Resident Evil game are we talking about here?

Many fans of the series would argue that Resident Evil has been on a downslide since the landmark horror/action title Resident Evil 4 dropped. The most recent entry in the series proper, Resident Evil 6 , wasn’t exactly a critical or commercial powerhouse, either.

There’s always the chance that Capcom could be trying something different this time around, such as a four-player twin-stick shooter similar to games like Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris or Helldivers . Then again, the mobile market is huge overseas, so could we be looking at a fort builder or touch-based zombie shooter? Or maybe something planned for VR headsets, giving players the chance to take on the undead hordes from a true first-person perspective?

We are, of course, open to hearing your ideas in the comments section below. What type of Resident Evil game would pique your interest? Would you prefer something familiar, or perhaps something totally unexpected?

Capcom Wants To Know How You Feel About This Fan Remake of A Classic Game

Capcom Wants To Know How You Feel About This Fan Remake of A Classic Game

Capcom isn't generally known for approaching fan creations with open arms, but it seems as though they might be changing up their attitude a bit.

At least, that's what it seems like, as the fanmade Resident Evil 2 remake we covered just the other daygains traction across the internet. Capcom'sResearch & Development Division (via GameSpot) took to Facebook to post a message asking fans for their opinions of the project, but very clearly not opening their arms to the team who created it just yet:

"As the team owns the Resident Evil brand, we're not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the ' Resident Evil 2 Remake ' and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?"

The post has attracted thousands of responses from Resident Evil fans across the world, many of which declare their support for the project and the community surrounding it. But it's curious as to what Capcom may actually be doing with this Facebook post. It could be a simple attempt at saving face, or it could be a way for the higher-ups to gauge interest in an upcoming Resident Evil 2HD remake, which it's pretty clear fans would absolutely love to see come down the pipeline.

And it's not out of the realm of possibility, if you think back to 2012, where Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi delivered a famous ultimatum: If enough fans demanded and made a fuss about a Resident Evil remake, it would happen. It appears when these types of things are said, the person responsible for them usually ends up keeping their word, so it's possible that this could be a similar situation.

It's interesting to note that the Resident Evil HD editionthis year has sold more than a million copies as well, which has prompted Capcom to sell even more remasters, but it's not clear at this point which they're gunning for. A Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake would be absolutely golden, but probably out of the possibility, especially with as much trepidation as Capcom has when approaching a remake.

Whatever the case, it'll be excellent if we could see any additional Resident Evil releases coming down the pipeline, along with new entries for the series. It's a great time to be a fan of the survival horrorgenre in general, actually.
