Star Wars Battlefront patch nerfs Boba Fett and Han Solo

The January patch for Star Wars Battlefront was recently detailed by EA, giving required nerfs to Boba Fett and Han Solo.

The January patch for Star Wars Battlefront was recently detailed by EA, giving required nerfs to Boba Fett and Han Solo. The nerf’s will effect their damage done at long range, meaning that they will be less effective over long distances.

Since it’s release in November, Star Wars Battlefront has announced new DLC plans. Gamespresso has dubbed the it both ‘great and disappointing’,with a detailed list included in the article. Gamespresso’s review of Star Wars Battlefrontgave the game a 7/10, saying that “Overall, Star Wars Battlefront is a game that I liked, but didn’t love. Its impressive visuals and incredible soundtrack appease the senses, but after a few hours of game-play, the thrill and nostalgia wears off and you’re left with a game that doesn’t deliver where it matters.”

Of the more notable sites, IGN was the only one to give Star Wars Battlefront anything above a 7.5, giving the game a 8/10, with Mitch Dyer explaining“Star Wars Battlefront captures everything I love most about Star Wars.”

The January patch has also included several bug fixes, all of which can be read below. (via Gamespot)

Dark Souls III Uses Sad Ben Affleck Video To Promote Game And It's Perfect

Dark Souls III Uses Sad Ben Affleck Video To Promote Game And It's Perfect

Whoever is in charge of Dark Souls III marketing deserves a raise for this latest stunt, combining scenes from an untold number of death scenes from throughout the series with the already infamous “Sad Ben Affleck” meme that’s had the internet buzzing for the past couple of weeks.

When you really think about how much you've enjoyed #DarkSoulsover the years. https://t.co/eNadvNR8UL

— Dark Souls (@DarkSoulsGame) April 7, 2016

The above video first went live on the Dark Souls Twitter page last nightand it has already become its own internet sensation.

In case you haven’t been internetting much these past couple of weeks, the original version of the video was pulled from an interview involving Batman V. Superman stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. In the original interview, the duo was asked what they felt about the early negative reviews the movie had been receiving.

While Cavill charges full steam ahead into the question with a smile on his face, Affleckcan be seen going to a deep, dark internal place full of untold sadness. Some brilliant person decided to zoom in closer and closer on Affleck’s contemplations while playing Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” in the background. It’s all ended perfectly by Affleck snapping out of his funk and adding a quick, “I agree,” to Cavill’s comments.

It turns out that the joke wasn’t fully played out, however, as the Dark Souls squad added an extra layer of cleverness to the affair. The team dropped in an “interviewer’s” voice stating that, in preparation for Dark Souls III , the pair of actors went back and played the original games in the series. The interviewer then asks what they thought of that experience, which is when we roll into that same “Sound of Silence” brilliance with a bunch of Dark Souls death scenes rolling in the background. Affleck, it would seem, is having a hard time coming to terms with what the Dark Souls series has done to him.

As for the rest of us non-superhero types, we’ve only got a few more days to wait before we can finally get our own hands on Dark Souls III . That is, of course, assuming you don’t live in Japan, where the game is already available, or didn’t pull a sneaky maneuver on the Xbox One that allowed you to purchase it early.

Assuming you’ve been keeping things on the up and up, Dark Souls III finally arrives in North America and Europe next Tuesday, April 12.

In case you can’t wait until then for all of the death-defying goodness, Bandai Namco has stated that some sort of “big news” pertaining to the game is due out today, April 8. So keep your eyes peeled for more details on that.

Here's How You Can Get Another Free Mythical Pokemon

Here's How You Can Get Another Free Mythical Pokemon

April is officially upon us, which means it's time to celebrate with another free legendary Pokemon to add to your collection.

April is officially upon us, which means it's time to celebrate with another free legendary Pokemon to add to your collection. Luckily for all of you trainers out there, we've got the details on how you can get your hands on this latest offering from The Pokemon Company.

It's the Pokemon series' 20th birthday and, to celebrate, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company aren't ringing in the momentous occasion with a single day, week or even month's worth of prizes and events. No, they're taking a whole-dang-year to celebrate all things Pokemon , which translates to fantastic news for those of you who are still trying to catch them all.

As part of this year-long party, a new free legendary Pokemon is being given out each month for the rest of the year. Folks have already gotten their hands on Mew and Celebi in recent months and, throughout April, you can now add Jirachi to your collection.

In some cases you'll need to go to physical locations, like a GameStop store, in order to grab a special code to get your new mythical Pokemon. That was the case with Mew back in February. This time around, though, all you need to do is boot up your 3DS and get to downloading. Simply load your copy of either Pokemon X/Y or Pokemon OR/AS , hit the “Receive Gift” button and prepare to add your very own Jirachi to the team. This offer is good from now through April 24, so you've got a few weeks to get the lead out.

Over on the Pokemon website, they've got all of the pertinent stats for your new friend. The Mythical Pokemon Jirachi, who is made to resemble a shooting star, will arrive on your 3DS at Level 100. It's a Steel/Psychic critter with the ability Serene Grace. They also come with the moves Wish, Confusion and Rest.

Assuming you haven't already filled up your trainer boxes and overstuffed your Pokemon Bank, don't forget to claim your Jirachi within the next several weeks.

Once he's gone, we'll have a short break before The Pokemon Company releases additional details on how you'll be able to add May's Mythical Pokemon to your team.

As stated above, these promotions are only one part of the ongoing 20th anniversary celebration for Pokemon . In the past several months, we've already received some new 3DS bundles, saw the launch of the original Pokemon games on the eShop, and witnessed the creation of the world's largest Pokemon card.

Along with more free pocket-sized critters to add to your collection, we've still got Pokemon Go to look forward to on mobile devices, as well as the brand new generation of games, Pokemon Sun/Moon .

We're sure some additional surprises will pop up along the way, too, so keep your eyes out for more announcements as they become available.

Gears Of War 4 Worldwide Release Date Revealed

Gears Of War 4 Worldwide Release Date Revealed

It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have a launch date for the highly anticipated shooter, Gears of War 4 .

. Gamers will be happy to know that they can expect to shoot and chainsaw their way through the Locust scum this fall.

If you’ve been eagerly anticipating any news pertaining to a launch date for Gears of War 4 , then today is your lucky day. It has finally been announced through Xbox Wirethat the latest game in the Gears series will finally be in our hot little hands on October 11 of this year.

In case you don’t have a calendar handy, what that means is that we’ve still got six months of anticipation to sweat through before we can finally pick up the tale of muscle-bound heroes fighting giant, grotesque bug monsters. It’s a rough wait, to be sure, but at least you can rest easy knowing that you’ll be playing Gears 4 this holiday season, exclusively on Xbox Oneand PC.

As the original post points out, it’s been almost a full year since we first saw Gears of War 4 in action at E3 2015. That means the development team has had plenty of additional time to cook up some gaming epicness for the upcoming title and, with a launch date of Oct. 11, that leaves plenty of additional breathing room to make sure everything is bolted together and ready to roll this fall.

The launch date is, of course, only the first morsel of information to get the Gears 4 hype train moving full steam ahead, with more details promised concerning JD Fenix and his band of new Gears teammates.

The post on Xbox Wire reiterates the fact that Gears 4 is the beginning of a new saga for the series. And with a new cast of heroes will come a new threat in need of a Lancer to the face. The announcement promises an experience that reminds fans of the gritty opening years of the Gears phenomenon, as well as a “distinct evolution of gameplay” that boast “intimate action, a heart-pounding campaign and genre-defining multiplayer.” And all of that will be brought to you through the beautifully brutal Unreal Engine 4.

And to get that multiplayer component ready for prime time, the dev team is kicking off a Gears of War 4 beta later this month. Folks who played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will get a first crack at the betastarting April 18, with the invitation expanding to all Xbox Live Gold members on April 25.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ Will Finally Be Coming To North America

Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series won’t have to wait much longer to be reunited with Goofy, Donald and the rest of the cast from Disney and Square Enix’s beloved crossover universe.

series won’t have to wait much longer to be reunited with Goofy, Donald and the rest of the cast from Disney and Square Enix’s beloved crossover universe. It looks like North American audiences will finally be getting their hands on the highly popular mobile game, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ .

According to a recent announcement on the Square Enix Blog, we’re only a couple days out from Kingdom Hearts X launching in North America on iOS and Android platforms.

And while the Kingdom Hearts narrative isn’t exactly the easiest ball of yarn to unravel, you won’t need any prior knowledge of the series to jump into Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ , as director Tetuya Nomura explains that the events of the mobile game actually take place at the beginning of the Kingdom Hearts story.

That’s right, you’re going back to a time before Sora, before even the Keyblade war. In this era, loads of people wield Keyblades in a land where fantasies collide. Each player will take on the role of one of these Keyblade wielders and help shape the future of the story.

And for those of you looking forward to picking up the latest compilation game, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue , the team at Square Enix promises that Unchained χ will somehow tie into all three games included in the new compilation.

That all will of course lead into Kingdom Hearts III , which we’re still utterly starved for new information on. Thankfully, E3 is just around the corner and, if Square Enixis as far into development as we assume they are at this point, that would be a good time to pull back the curtain a bit further. Fans have been waiting a very long time for Kingdom Hearts III , so hopefully those new details are inbound.

To help tide you over, though, you’ll be able to download and start playing Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ starting this Thursday, April 7.

As for what worlds and characters you’ll be running into, expect plenty of series staples pulled from the Disney catalog, as well as a brand new hub, Daybreak Town. There’s also going to be cooperative and competitive play to keep things fresh, as well as mobile hooks like medals to chase after, costumes to collect and the like.

Nomura goes on to reiterate the fact that this game takes place at the start of the Kingdom Hearts story, so players who have never held a Keyblade should feel comfortable diving in without knowing anything about the cast, setting, etc. One thing is for sure from the handful of screenshots we’ve seen: This is certainly the most adorable game in the series to date.

So, do you plan on playing this new Kingdom Hearts mobile game? Let us know in the comments section below.

A California Congressman May Have Spent $1300 On Steam Games Using Campaign Funds, Here's What We Know

A California Congressman May Have Spent $1300 On Steam Games Using Campaign Funds, Here's What We Know

It looks like a California Representative may have used campaign funds in a less-than-legal manner, potentially purchasing more than 50 video games through Steam.

It’s a big election year, so we’re used to hearing about politicians doing things they aren’t supposed to. But when it comes to misusing campaign funds, that’s usually tied to stories about funding a cruise, lining someone’s pocket or the like. Politicians aren’t often accused of spending their campaign money on, like, Call of Duty and Madden .

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, however, that could very well be the case when it comes to Alpine, California Representative Duncan Hunter, who is currently under question by the Federal Election Commission for making 68 purchases through the Steam gaming platform utilizing campaign funds.

According to the initial report, Hunter’s spokesperson, Joe Kasper, is arguing that Hunter’s son is the one actually responsible for the purchases. In short, the kid may have gotten a hold of his dad’s wallet, grabbed a random credit card and started making Steampurchases totaling a whopping $1,300. Assuming this is all accurate, the kid just grabbed the absolute worst credit card of the bunch, the one that happens to be tied to daddy’s job and not for personal use.

We’d be interested in seeing a list of the games, DLC and subscriptions purchased, if only to find out what one spends $1,300 on in one go through Steam. That’s a pretty hefty shopping spree.

Kasper further explains that the amount actually stems from an initial purchase, with additional charges being added on while Hunter tried to shut down the account and dispute the charges. It’s a pretty messed up situation, and not one Hunter has a heck of a lot of time to untangle.

The FEC has given him until May 9 to prove that either the full amount has been refunded or that he has paid for the charges utilizing his personal funds. That’s only about four weeks and, if I’ve learned anything from working with customer service, it’s that a month might not be enough time to clear up something as drastic as a $1,300 bill. Still, as a last-ditch effort, at least he has the ability to foot the bill himself, as well as ground his son for a four-year term.

Apparently this all came to light when someone noticed Hunter had listed $1,302 worth of Steam Games on his 2015 year-end financial discloser, along with a not that these were “personal expense – to be paid back.” Not such a big issue (mistakes happen, after all), accept for the fact that, three years into 2016, the funds had not been repaid.

As always, we now turn this over to our readers, but not in the way you might have expected. What we want to know it: What type of games do you think a guy like Representative Hunter would play? Is he a Sims fanatic or more of a Destiny type? Maybe he sticks to something like Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone , games he can get in quick sessions of when he’s not helping run the country. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Oculus Rift Founder Responds To Complaints Of Oculus Shipping Delays

Oculus Rift Founder Responds To Complaints Of Oculus Shipping Delays

The VR future is getting off to a slightly slower start than expected, all thanks to a shipping issue that's kept many folks from receiving their Oculus Rift when expected.

future is getting off to a slightly slower start than expected, all thanks to a shipping issue that's kept many folks from receiving their Oculus Rift when expected. The good news, however, is that the Oculus team is addressing the problem and it could mean some potential savings for folks who ordered the device.

In case you've missed all of the VRnews of late, the Oculus Rift finally launched this past week. Well, okay, it “officially launched,” yes, but it's taking a bit of extra time for the things to actually get out the door. Shipping delays have left many Oculus early adopters without a piece of hardware to strap to their head and, as is usually the case these days, they've taken to the internet to air their complaints.

The Oculus reddit pageis rife with frustrated individuals who really, really want their new hardware. With no word initially coming from the Oculussquad as to why shipments were taking so long, the grumblings became an uproar. This led to Oculusfounder Palmer Luckeyfinally chiming in, explaining that the lack of comment was his call. I am not going to wax poetic about this, since I have done so in the past, but bottom-line: I won't give in-depth updates on any situation without knowing it is solid, true and finalized. Until I can do so, the best I can do is remind people that I will get them information as quickly as I can.
Palmer Luckey went on to engage reddit commenters for a while, which he said serves as further proof that he's invested in his community and wants to to right by said community. Of course this is the internet we are talking about, so he received mostly venom in response.

Over on Gamespot, however, it appears that this story has a silver lining for folks who feel wronged by the delay in Oculus shipping. They've provided a pair of updates to this evolving story, starting with the fact that many folks who had purchased an Occulus were noticing the shipping fee had been dropped.

This was apparently followed by an email from the Oculus team explaining that, due to the delay in shipping, the cost of all orders through yesterday would see shipping removed from the final receipt. So, yes, they are covering the shipping and handling charges for folks who pre-ordered a Rift, including international customers.

We'd say that seems like a fair trade, but we'll have to wait and see if the reddit community agrees.

As always, we welcome comments from our readers. Were people right to get so angry over a slight delay in shipping? Either way, what do you think of Oculus' response, covering the shipping cost? Let us know in the comments section below.

Xbox Live Multiplayer Will Be Free This Weekend On Xbox 360

Xbox Live Multiplayer Will Be Free This Weekend On Xbox 360

For those of you who have taken the plunge with an Xbox 360 but have not yet forked over the extra funds to play online, you’re in luck.

For those of you who have taken the plunge with an Xbox 360 but have not yet forked over the extra funds to play online, you’re in luck. For the next three days, everyone on Xbox Live can enjoy a free multiplayer weekend.

You read that right, Xbox Live is open to all comers from April 1-3. You usually need to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription to enjoy the benefits of online multiplayer but, for the next three days, Microsoft is throwing away the velvet rope and letting absolutely anyone into the party.

Look, we get it. Gaming isn’t a cheap hobby and, sometimes, you can either buy a new game or fork over the annual fee for a subscription like Xbox Live Gold. Some might argue that there’s more valuein the latter, but that’s for each consumer to decide on their own.

For those of you who have foregone an Xbox Live Gold subscription up until this point and wonder what it would be like to join your friends in multiplayer games, then the next 72 hours are your chance to find out what you’ve been missing. Or, hey, maybe you won’t dig online gaming and decide to return to solo play forever. Your call. We’re not here to judge.

The announcement went live yesterday through the Xbox website. Even though many have already moved on to the Xbox One, there’s still plenty of fun to be had on a previous gen machine like the Xbox 360. To prove that’s the case, this “Friends Become Allies” campaign invites players to “stock up on snacks, get comfy” and enjoy three days of free online gaming for the Xbox 360.

There is one confusing notation worth mentioning, though. At the bottom of the announcement are four games, including the first-person shooter, Halo 4 , another FPS, Battlefield: Hardline , the build-it-yourself playground of Minecraft and the footyfanatics delight, FIFA 16 . We have no information on whether or not those are the only games available for free multiplayer or not, but it seems highly unlikely. We’re thinking those games are simply being used as examples for the titles you could be playing this weekend rather than a limitation on what games can actually be played.

In case you don’t have any of those games, there is a handy link to purchase each one of them within the announcement itself. There’s also an additional link to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold in case the three days of free play convinces you to take the plunge, and even a link to pick up an Xbox Onefor $299, just in case you’re feeling extra frisky.

Check Out The New DOOM Live-Action Trailer From Tron: Legacy Director

Check Out The New DOOM Live-Action Trailer From Tron: Legacy Director

With the impending launch of DOOM , Bethesda is gearing up to send players straight to hell.

, Bethesda is gearing up to send players straight to hell. You can get a feel for what’s in store courtesy of a new live action trailer?

If you needed any further proof that Bethesda is breaking from a bit of tradition with this new DOOM , you need look no further than this latest video, called “Fight Like Hell.” The original Doom games were dark, gritty and, due to the limitations of the hardware at the time, more of a strafing shoot-a-thon than a full-on FPS.

That’s all changing with DOOM , which is pulling the beloved series kicking and screaming into the modern generation. The characters wear suits that look like they’d feel right at home in Halo or Mass Effect and have an impressive freedom of maneuverability. Apparently shotguns are still has handy as ever for pulverizing demons, which can be seen in all its violent glory in this new cinematic trailer.

Top all of that off with a screaming metal soundtrack, two instances of “stomp on the dude, then shoot him in the head,” and the arrival of a massive boss and the Fight Like Hell trailer makes a convincing argument that DOOM is aiming to be bigger, badder and faster than ever. We understand that this could be upsetting to longtime fans of the series but, for everyone else, maybe it’ll prove that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.

In case you were curious about who directed this fast and frantic look at the world of DOOM , it’s none other than Joe Kosinski, responsible for the films Oblivion and the super stylish Tron: Legacy .

According to the video’s description, the trailer was made to show off the main “pillars” of DOOM ’sgameplay, including “relentless combat, terrifying demons and bad ass guns.”

Sadly, we’re still a full month out from DOOM ’s May 13th launch date for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, so this newest trailer might have to tide you over for a bit.

And while fan reaction to the game’s uninspired cover art may not have been that great, folks really seem to be enjoying the feel of this new trailer. Perhaps my favorite comment of all comes from Youtube user Noja8787, who stated that “this one minute video was better than the Doom 2005 movie.” Sadly, that is a true statement.

But, hey, if Bethesda manages to throw a dozen hours of this fast-paced action in our faces when DOOM finally launches, I think even the harshest of critics will finally be able to look past the Doom movie.

Again, it may not feel like classic Doom , but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Final Fantasy XV Finally Has An Official Release Date

Final Fantasy XV Finally Has An Official Release Date

Announced during a special event hosted out of Los Angeles yesterday evening , the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV press conference dished plenty of details pertaining to the upcoming RPG.

After rumors, speculation and even a potential leakhours before the announcement from Square Enix, we now have an official fall launch date for Final Fantasy XV .

press conference dished plenty of details pertaining to the upcoming RPG. The biggest piece of news, however, may have been a solid launch date to hand our expectations from. According to Square Enix, we can all look forward to playing Final Fantasy XV on Sept. 30, 2016.

Some folks have already played a small portion of the game thanks to an exclusive demo offered to anyone who purchased Final Fantasy Type-O a couple months back. If you’re curious how excited some folks are to get their hands on anything and everything XV , those demo codes were selling for a pretty penny online and there were even reports of some folks buying Type-0 , claiming their demo and then trading the game back in.

According to the official website, multiple versions of Final Fantasy XV will be offered, but we’ll have you full details on that later in the day. For now, just remember to mark your calendar for Sept. 30.

Oh, and maybe also fire up your Xbox One of PlayStation 4 and head on over to the marketplace to grab a completely different demo for the game.

That’s right, Square Enix stealth launched a second demo called Platinum: Final Fantasy XV and, similar to the Bravely Default and Bravely Second demos, it offers content that won’t be available in the final game. Think of this as a kind of prequel side story to help introduce you to the world of the game and pass the time between now and Sept. 30.

In the demo, you’ll take control of a young Noctis, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy XV . Square Enix described the demo as “dreamlike,” where you’ll learn some of the basics of the gameplay like combat, spellcasting and even driving. Even better is the fact that your guide through this journey will be the always adorable Carbuncle, which is kind of like a fox mixed with a unicorn.

And speaking of Carbuncle, those who finish the demo will gain access to the summon in the final version of Final Fantasy XV .

It’s hard to believe that the journey to Final Fantasy XV is almost complete. The game stared its life as a Final Fantasy XIII spinoff and, over time, has become its own beast. All told, we’ve been waiting nearly 10 years for this game to finally get here. Here’s hoping it has been worth the wait.

And for those of you who stayed up late and have played the demo already, be sure to let us know what you thought in the comments below.

New Homefront: The Revolution Trailer Shows A North Korea-Controlled Philly

So what would it look like if North America was invaded and North Korea took over a city like Philadelphia?

So what would it look like if North America was invaded and North Korea took over a city like Philadelphia? This latest trailer for Homefront: The Revolution has a few ideas.

Homefront: The Revolution has been a long time coming, but it looks like we'll finally be able to get our hands on the game come May 17 when it launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

This latest trailerfor Homefront is called “Guerrilla Warfare 101,” with the explanation that, “to become an effective Freedom Fighter and liberate occupied Philadelphia, you must first learn the art of Guerrilla Warfare.”

In the video, we get a look at exactly what Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios are talking about. With Philadelphia under control of the KPA (Korean Peoples' Army) in the not-too-distant future, you're going to need to utilize some tactics that don't typically show up in series like Call of Duty or Battlefield .

The trailer does a good job of demonstrating how high the odds are going to be stacked against you in Homefront: The Revolution . The KPA has all sorts of high tech gadgetry, including patrolling drones, air support and impressive fire power. In order to take all of that on, you'll be able to take advantage of a modular weapons system, meaning you'll be able to mix and match your firearm for various jobs on the fly. “A resistance fighter adapts to the situation,” says the narrator. “That's how we survive.”

Also at your disposal in Homefront will be the Guerilla Tool Kit, which includes four handy devices you'll constantly be using to take care of business. This kit includes incendiary bombs and IED's, better known as improvised explosive devices. There's also a nifty hack tool, which can put security cameras on the fritz when you need to sneak past. Want to turn a drone on your enemies? Hack the thing and watch the bullets fly. Finally, there's the Distraction Tool which, well, serves as a distraction. If things are getting too hot, throw out one of these babies and you've got yourself a diversion.

And while you can throw any of these devices, trigger them or set them up as a trap, you can also strap any of them to an RC car and guide it to your desired destination. You'll also be able to utilize a motorcycle to get around more quickly and, as you turn the tide of war, you may even convince fellow freedom fighters to join your cause.

Now all we have to do is wait two more monthsfor Homefront: The Revolution to finally arrive.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained Open Beta Is Now Live

Orcs Must Die! Unchained Open Beta Is Now Live

The tower defense series with a devious sense of humor is back and, this time, Orcs Must Die!

Orcs Must Die! Unchained is bringing some cooperative orc-smashing along for the ride. To help prepare for the launch, the game has officially entered into its open beta.

The Orcs Must Die series has gone through a couple of iterations at this point, turning up the action in the traditional tower defense genre by giving players more control over their hero, who gets to run amok on the invading orcs while setting up dangerous traps to slow down their progress. Rather than letting your cleverly-placed death machines do all of the work, Orcs Must Die lets the player split their time between building and taking part in melee third-person combat that would feel right at home in just about any beat-em-up.

The team at Robot Entertainmentannounced today that the newest game in the series, Orcs Must Die! Unchained , is officially moving into open beta, and it can be played by either visiting Steamor OrcsMustDie.com. Here’s a look at the official beta trailer.

While Orcs Must Die! 2 already upped the ante by allowing two players to tackle the dungeons together, Unchained is allowing for even more teamwork by introducing more new playable characters and expanding the cooperative play to four heroes. Along with the crossbow-wielding mainstay, we’ve got a pair of lady magic users to choose from, as well as a brutish warrior who hurls a massive axe and has control over ice abilities. Apparently the final game will offer dozens of “unique and powerful” characters to pick from, which should make or some interesting combinations.

Of course, you can still play the game solo, if that’s how you prefer to roll. To make things more interesting, a new PvP Siege arena is also up for grabs, inviting teams of five to compete in a sort of “minion tug-of-war,” according to the press release.

The first Orcs Must Die was an award-winning strategy game that gave players more control over the battlefield while setting up traps. The sequelalso found a home among series fans, and it looks like Unchained is looking to provide more orc-slaying goodness than ever before.

As is becoming common practice these days, OMDU is a free-to-play game, so anyone can jump in at any time and get to busting skulls. Those extra characters are what’s going to set you back some money. The website has packs ranging from $3.99 to $49.99, the latter unlocking pretty much everything you could ever want in the game.

If any of your readers decide to dive in, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.

The Next Call Of Duty Could Be Returning To Space, Here's What We Know

The Next Call Of Duty Could Be Returning To Space, Here's What We Know

The Call of Duty series may be gunning for the stars in its next outing, as reports are rolling in that the upcoming game in the storied FPS franchise will be set in space.

series may be gunning for the stars in its next outing, as reports are rolling in that the upcoming game in the storied FPS franchise will be set in space. And we’re not just talking a mission or two here, but straight-up war of the future, sci-fi combat.

Following all sorts of rumors that Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty would have a sci-fi setting, Eurogameris reporting that, according to one of their industry sources by the name of Shinobi, we could be looking at a game more akin to Halo or Killzone than what we’ve seen in previous Call of Duty titles.

According to Shinobi, run-and-gunners can expect three simple things out of the next Call of Duty . When asked about the setting of the game, Shinobi simply stated “very far future,” “space combat,” and “full-on sci-fi.”

Despite the credibility of the sources, however, we’re still chalking this one up as a rumor until Infinity Ward steps out on stage and shows off a bunch of soldiers fighting with laser weapons. It’s entirely possible that Call of Duty is heading into orbit, but we prefer to hear something official before shouting it from the mountaintops.

Unlike many rumors buzzing through the game-o-sphere, though, this one at least makes a heck of a lot of sense. The Call of Duty series can be seen as something of a modern history on warfare, with more recent entries pushing ever-so-slightly into the future. The series has gone from World War to Modern Warfare and, in its most recent entries, we’ve journeyed into the coming years where soldiers are equipped with off-the-wall weapons and sci-fi gadgets.

In other words, why wouldn’t they go all in with this next game and set it in a period so are into the future that the sky (or galaxy) is literally the limit? Rather than worry about making things realistic, they could let their imaginations run wild with this next Call of Duty .

All we know so far, for sure, is that Infinity Ward’s next entry in the series is due out this fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and, assuming they stick to tradition, that likely means a November release.

It’s certainly interesting watching these trends unfold. When the FPS genre first really started gaining steam, all of these games were set around the WWII era. Folks started getting tired of shooting Nazis, so the games suddenly made the shift to more modern warfare. In recent years, the location of choice has been the near future. Nowadays, it seems like sci-fiis going to reign for a while. Here’s hoping Call of Duty ’strip to space is a good one.

has been little more than post cards of concept art and some rendered worlds, with little in terms of mechanics or a solid plotline teased at us. Thanks to Twitter user Shinobi602, we now have a closer look at Mass Effect: Andromeda ‘s protagonist: Pathfinder.

While these pictures have been out since the fall of last year, fans have somehow missed this, even with them scouring everywhere for any more information on the series’s fourth installment, as well as being the first one to not star Commander Shepard.

These renders show off the same character we saw at the E3 teaser last year. The N7 suit is still present, but with a more rounded headpiece.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to release sometime in 2017 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Bioware producer floats the idea of a Dragon Age Tactics game

Bioware producer floats the idea of a Dragon Age Tactics game

Over the weekend, Dragon Age Executive producer Mark Darruh posed a question as to whether anyone would like to see a Dragon Age Tactics game.

While known specifically for its large, open RPGs, the Dragon Age franchise has dabbled in trying other things over the years. Unfortunately, everything, from the mobile games to sidescrolling browser based games, hasn’t quite hit the mark for fans of the series. Nonetheless, it seems Bioware is still looking for ways to expand the franchise.

Posting the question on Twitter, “Would you play a Dragon Age Tactics game?” Darruh opened it up to a poll. After over 12,000 votes the results were in:

49%- Yes

22%- No

23%- Only on PC

6%- Only on mobile/handheld

The ‘tactics’ moniker is a call back to games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fallout Tactics. When asked to clarify even further, Durrah elaborated, citing more modern tactical combat titles like the recent XCOM and Fire Emblem games, and even giving a nod to the likes of Valkyria Chronicles. He went on to say it would “have to be cannon,” would be a “full game,” and would “likely” include the full roleplaying, companion, and romance options the series is known for.

To assuage any fears, he also said that if the game ever did happen, it would come along side the franchise’s large RPGs, not in place of them.

The last main entry title in the franchise was Dragon Age Inquisition, a critically applauded success. What do you think of a Dragon Age Tactics game? Let us know in the comments.

Mass Effect: Andromeda pushed into 2017

Mass Effect: Andromeda pushed into 2017

Mass Effect: Andromeda will no longer release during holiday 2016 as planned, according to an EA executive.

During an interview at a recent business summit, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen revealed that the title will be released during the company’s “Q4” period. EA’s financial year runs from April 1st – March 31st, in which Q4 translates to sometime between January 1st and March 31st.

“We have all our sports games, we have Mirror’s Edge, a runner game coming out in the first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited,” Jorgensen said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jorgensen did mention a few other EA titles that are in the works.

“Yeah we’ve got a great year ahead. For the first time I’m trying to dampen down Wall Street expectations, which is a good position to be in. We’ve got our Battlefield first-person shooter coming in the third quarter, and our third party title that Respawn built… it’s called Titanfall… it’s the second title they brought out under that brand,” he said. “Both those are first-person shooter and will be targeted around both fast action-driven shooter market as well as the strategy driven market in the quarter.”

Dragon Age writer David Gaider leaving BioWare

Dragon Age writer David Gaider leaving BioWare

Gaider has stated he is “thrilled” to join the new company, although he jokes in saying his new job is “25% paperwork, 25% documentation, 150% confusion.”
Trent Oster, Beamdog CEO, stated the position that Gaider originally applied for was insufficient for someone of his experiene.

One of BioWare’s lead writers David Gaider has left the studio after 17 years. He is planning to move to a smaller studio called Beamdog.

“When Dave contacted us, we recognised the level of contribution he could bring to our games and our studio. We upgraded the position to creative director and brought him on board.”

Beamdog is staffed partly by veterans of other BioWare RPG’s like Neverwinter Nights and Mass Effect. They’ve made their name by remastering the Baulder’s Gates games. Currently, work is being done to create a new expansion set between the two games.

Gaider worked on design for Baldur’s Gate 2 while at BioWare. He also wrote for several Knights of the Old Republic characters such as HK-47, as well as being the lead writer for the Dragon Age series.

Turok 1 And 2 Will Be Coming To The Xbox One

Turok 1 And 2 Will Be Coming To The Xbox One

When all else fails, turn to Twitter.

When all else fails, turn to Twitter. That’s what one Turok fan did recently, and the reward for their effort was discovering that both Turok and Turok 2 are currently in development for the Xbox platform.

When asked on Twitterif there was any chance the HD-ified versions of the first two Turok games were heading to other platforms, the team at Night Dive Studios confirmed that both Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are currently in development for @Xbox. No specific platform was announced, but we’re banking that the team is gunning for the Xbox One at this point.

@AlexSGregoryWe're currently planning on bringing Turok and Turok 2 to @Xbox

— Night Dive Studios (@NightDiveStudio) March 25, 2016

You might remember Night Dive as the studio responsible for the HD versions of the Turok games that launched last year for PC. Along with updated graphics and sound, you can probably expect stuff like leaderboards and Achievements to make it into these latest versions of the games. Unfortunately, when asked if a PS4 version of the games was in development, Night Dive only confirmed that other platforms were being considered, but that nothing was confirmed at this time.

Still, a new version of the games on Xbox sounds like a nice starting place. In case you haven’t seen what Turok looks like in HD, you can check out the trailer for the first game below. And if you’re completely unfamiliar with the series in general, dang, where do you even begin? The game is basically what would happen if a bunch of 12-year-olds started trying to come up with a plot, and I actually mean that in the best way possible.

We can just hear the game’s original pitch now:

“Okay, so, this Native American badass has to fight dinosaurswith knives, a bow and arrow and, like, shotguns and stuff. Oh, and there are also these evil tribal dudes and, um, like, they can ride the dinosaurs, too. And some of the dinosaurs carry guns or have cybernetic enhancements. There’s also, like, man-eating plants, giant bugs and monsters that are, like, not even dinosaurs and stuff. Oh, and there’s also all kinds of traps and puzzles to solve.”

Plug all of that into a classic FPSsimilar to Doom or Wolfenstein and, boom, you’ve got yourself a sweet game.

Honestly, at this point, we’ve got to wonder why nobody else has taken a crack at a Turok reboot. All joking aside, the game has an insane premise and we bet it would be received well as a downloadable title on modern consoles. Just a thought, if anyone with a development team is listening.

Fallout 4's New DLC Will Be Massive

Fallout 4's New DLC Will Be Massive

If you were hoping to explore more of the wastelands in Fallout 4 , then you’re in luck.

, then you’re in luck. According to the team at Bethesda, the next batch of DLC, Far Harbor, is going to be pretty massive.

Once again, it’s amazing what you can learn through Twitter. Gamerant, for instance, stumbled upon this Twitter conversation between fan, SirCabbage, and Fallout 4 VP of PR and Marketing, Pete Hines. When Cabbage asked about the size of the upcoming Far Harbor DLC, Hines stated that is will actually be bigger than the Shivering Isles DLC for The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion , that game’s largest piece of additional content.

@SirCabbageit's bigger in size than Shivering Isles. I asked.

— Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) March 22, 2016

That’s a pretty impressive feat, considering the fact that Fallout 4 Director Todd Howard has added that the upcoming DLC will insert the largest bit of landmass ever created by the team at Bethesda. Once you add on all of the new missions, enemies, locations to explore, etc., that $25 price tag become much less surprising for Far Harbor. And for you collectors out there, this new DLC will of course add in all sorts of new armor and weapons you haven’t already gotten your grubby little mitts on.

And that is, of course, only one small (or big, really) part of the Fallout 4 post-launch road map. The Automatron DLC has already dropped, tasking players with taking on a new threat to humanity, The Mechanist. To do that, you get to build your very own robots, which you can then have tag along beside you across the entirety of Fallout 4 .

Also on the fresh offerings docket are the new Survival Mode, for those of you who want to push your wasteland skills to the limit, as well as a new Wasteland Workshop set to arrive in April, which will give Fallout ’s crafting system a major overhaul.

Then, come May, you can dive into Far Harbor , the expansion that will answer the question of how safe it is to go exploring the ocean while wearing a giant metal suit. While each of the main pieces of DLC can be purchased piece meal (remembering that there’s still a third one that we have no details on at this time), you could also fork over an extra $50 to subscribe to the Season Pass.

So tell us, readers; are you still exploring the wasted in Fallout 4 ? What keeps bringing you back to the game? Also, what are you hoping to get out of this Far Harbor DLC? Let us know in the comments section below.

Hyrule Warriors DLC Will Include A Link's Awakening Character

Hyrule Warriors DLC Will Include A Link's Awakening Character

Following last week’s DLC details blowout for the two versions of Hyrule Warriors , we now have one additional piece of info concerning the game’s summer plans.

, we now have one additional piece of info concerning the game’s summer plans. It looks like the console and portable versions of Hyrule Warriors are getting a DLC character from the beloved Link’s Awakening .

Her name is Marin and, to fans of the SNES classic, Link’s Awakening , you’ll probably recognize her as the musical young girl who saved Link’s life when he was shipwrecked on the island of Koholint.

Since Marin looks a heck of a lot like Zelda, Link at first mistakes her for the beloved princess. She plays an important role in the game, so it’s nice to know Marin will be making her way into Hyrule Warriors . If we had to make a guess, we’d say she’ll likely use her handheld harp as a musical weapon of sorts.

If it seems like Hyrule Warriors is getting a lot of ink at the moment, it’s because Nintendo keeps dishing fresh details. The Wii U version of the game launched about two years ago, though the 3DS version didn’t arrive until this past Friday.

To celebrate the occasion, Nintendo last week pulled back the curtain on DLC plansfor both the console and portable versions of the game. While the Wii U’s plans were a bit more vague, we got lots of info concerning the new maps, adventures and characters coming to the 3DS version of Warriors .

Over the weekend, however, Nintendo let slip even more Hyrule Warriors details in a panel for the game at WonderCon. Gamespot reportedfrom the show floor, revealing Marin’s summer launch on the Hyrule-infused musou game from the creators of the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series. They’re also behind the Warriors Orochi games so, as you can see, they like having the word “warriors” in their titles.

So now that we know that Marin will be included in the Link’s Awakening Pack, we still have an undisclosed new map and weapon for Linkle to look forward to. And if you’re playing on the 3DS, you’ll also be able to get your hand on 15-plus new costume pieces for your Fairy friend.

Unfortunately, other than the fact that Marin will be in the game and, based on the above image, look like she did in Link’s Awakening , we have no other details to go on as to how she will play. We’d be interested to hear your theories in the comments section below. Also, any other fan-favorite characters you’d like to see announced for future updates?

New Reptile From Mortal Kombat Statue Is Amazing And Insanely Expensive

New Reptile From Mortal Kombat Statue Is Amazing And Insanely Expensive

If you've ever wanted to have you very own statue of Mortal Kombat 's reptile, well now's your chance.

's reptile, well now's your chance. And it's an extremely detailed statue, too, which means the things comes with a pretty surprising price tag to boot.

Longtime Mortal Kombat fans will remember that Reptile was the series' first hidden character. In the original game, you had to get a double flawless victory over your opponent in The Pit and then finish them off with a Fatality. Do that correctly and you'd find yourself fighting this stealthy ninja in the bottom of the Pit. It was a pretty tricky battle, as Reptile mixed the moves of both Scorpion and Sub-Zero into a single deadly package.

Starting with Mortal Kombat II , Reptile was finally given the love he deserved and begame a fully-fledged new character. You could select him from the roster and he even had his own unique moves rather than stealing from others.

Over the weekend, Go Nintendostumbled upon this listing for a pretty impressive Reptile statue that's being offered by PCS Collectibles. Even more staggering than the design, though, is the price tag. This statue is going for $749.99 or, if you're willing to pay it off in one go, $637.49. We assume only the most hardcore Mortal Kombat fans will be reaching for their wallets at this point.

To its credit, though, this 1:3 scale Reptile statue is pretty unbelievable. It stands at 28” tall and has an LED base that lights up. The outfit is hand-tailored fabric and you can even swap out his hands and face. The hands can go from slime-covered to empty, with the face boasting a masked version of Mortal Kombat 'sgreen grappler, a lizard face, or even a skull face. The statue has been made with the blessing of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., too, so you know you're getting an authentic piece of Mortal Kombat memorabilia. But since the thing is going for more than the average VR headset, we kind of wish it also spit actual acid or sprung to life to defend your home in the event of a robbery.

It's not uncommon to see a statue based on a game character hit the market, but the detail (and that price) is kind of on a level of its own. This certainly isn't the type of thing you'd find in a “Collector's Edition” box for a game.

We're sure we have some Mortal Kombat fans in the audience, so please let us know in the comments below if this is something you'd consider adding to your collection. Even if you're not a major Reptile fanatic, have you ever purchased a piece of game memorabilia for a similar price point? Please let us know in the comments below.

Mass Effect: Andromeda's protagonist may have been discovered

Mass Effect: Andromeda's protagonist may have been discovered

Mass Effect fans may have discovered the name of the protagonist in the upcoming installment to the franchise Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Eurogamer reported that the Mass Effect subreddithas been full of theories since Reddit user Beneliotofound a dog tag on the left side of the screen in the N7 Day 2015 trailer, roughly 44 seconds in to the trailer itself.

According to Benelioto, the dog tag read “RYDER” or “RIDER.” This led to theories that the new protagonist may be named after Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. This fit with the original name of Shephard, as the Mass Effect trilogy’s protagonist was named after Alan Shephard, first American man in space.

The E3 announcement trailer also had Redditor The_Iceman2288‘s attention, as it was accompanied by Johnny Cash’s “Ghost Riders In The Sky.” Coincidentally, “ghost” is a synonym for “spectre,” which is the class Shephard held in the original trilogy in pursuit of maintaining inter-species relations. When questioned on the possibility of removing the song in favour of “proper music that fits the Mass Effect universe,” BioWare Montreal’s studio director, Yanick Roy, replied with “No, sorry, because there are very good reasons for that choice of song for the trailer that should become clear later on.”

Bottom line is, there seems to be a good reason behind the song choice, and the “RYDER/RIDER” dog tag seems too large a coincidence to be completely unconnected. All we know for sure is that we won’t be bumping into any familiar folks in our journeys through Andromeda’s galaxy, not even Commander Shephard. For now we’ll just have to look forward to the fourth main game when Mass Effect: Andromeda releases next holiday season.

Game of Thrones' Settings Recreated In Minecraft Are Absolutely Incredible

Game of Thrones' Settings Recreated In Minecraft Are Absolutely Incredible

A custom Minecraft mod called WesterosCraft has been in development for the past couple of years, with a team of dedicated modders painstakingly recreating every inch of George R.R. Martin's fictional world within Mojang's building block game.

According to Digital Trends, the modders are recreating every major city and landmark from A Game of Thrones within Minecraft . According to the article and the project leader, Jacob Grenberry, the project is nearly 70% complete. You can see how much they've accomplished with the milestone video they put together below.

The mod is specially designed to work with standard versions of Minecraft through a custom launcher. Gamers will be required to download the custom launcher from over on the official WesterosCraft website. After installing the launcher and running the modded version of the game, players will be able to explore and roam through the recreated world of Game of Thrones .

A couple of clips through the video above showcase how the cities were built, literally from the ground up, containing impeccable amounts of detail and articulation that help bring to life some of the most popular fantasy locations in fiction today.

According to Granberry, the mod contains 50 brand new blocks and textures, specifically designed to help the team craft and hew accurate models and motifs from the show.

Due to the amount of detail and dedication that the team is putting into this Minecraft mod, they've closed off community contributions. Not just anyone can log in and start changing things, adding things and modifying things. As the team nears completion, they're only accepting those who will work diligently and have some sort of history or past work experience in designing the kind of buildings and structures that they're working on in the mod.

As silly as it sounds, sending in an application with sample work is not that out of the norm. What the team is doing is effectively no different than how professional game developers source and build worlds in commercial games, so at the end of it all I imagine they'll further broadcast WesterosCraft as a sort of virtual tour-spot for Game of Thrones fans. In a way, it actually kind of makes sense and seems kind of cool. What would be even better is taking a tour through the land with a virtual reality headset like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive... that would really make the experience stand out.

For now, you can get your hands on the mod, for free, by downloading the launcher from the website. The only thing you need to run it is a legitimate copy of the original Minecraft to get it up and working. Whether or not you're a fan of Minecraft or Game of Thrones , you have to admit that the dedication and scale of the project is extremely impressive.

Someone Is Making An Elaborate Titanic Video Game, Get The Details

Someone Is Making An Elaborate Titanic Video Game, Get The Details

If you’ve ever thought about what it must’ve been like to be on the Titanic as it sank, you probably weren’t the only one.

as it sank, you probably weren’t the only one. And when the Titanicfeature film released in 1997 starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, everyone had Titanicon the brain. And now a team of three guys is working to resurrect interest in the world-altering disaster.

A few days ago, a video surfaced on YouTube that depicted a computer-generated image of the almighty Titanicsinking in real-time, so it’s about two hours and 40 minutes long. If you watch the entire thing or skip through, you can see the ship slowly sinking beneath the Atlantic waters until it finally pops into the air at the end and sinks to the bottom. It’s a horrifying and morbid experience that you somehow just can’t look away from.

The video has garnered almost 2 million views in just five days. The “core” team of developer Four Funnels Entertainment includes writer, manager and director Thomas Lynskey, interior modeler Matthew DeWinkleleer and exterior and technical modeler Kyle Hudak. Hilariously, each member has their image photoshopped on the background of a room in the Titanic.

The game currently in development has been titled Titanic Honor And Glory and gives players the chance to experience the sinking of the Titanicfirst-hand. You can explore the ship as it sinks in real time, up until the very moment it dips into the Atlantic Ocean. Check out the trailer below.

Players take control of passenger Mr. Robert Morgan who is trying desperately to escape the police because of a crime he didn’t commit. The player must unravel the mystery and find the real criminal before time runs out and the Titanicmeets its untimely demise. Titanic Honor And Glory isn’t only limited to exploring the ship. There will also be a segment in the game where you can explore Southampton as it appeared in early 1912. And using super-realistic graphics in Unreal Engine 4, it’s as if the age of the Titanic is being brought to life all over again.

The last Titanic game I ever played was sometime back in the 90’s or early 00’s and it was on the PC. The player had to solve some mystery about the sinking of the Titanic and the ship felt abandoned with a few key characters skulking around as you explored. Back when the Titanic movie came out, I became obsessed with the disaster and learned everything I could about it. But that lone PC game was something I thought would never be revisited. But now seeing this new game in development with some overly stunning graphics compared to what I was playing is reigniting my interest all over again.

There isn't an official release date yet, but there is a rough playable demo for both PC and Mac so you can get an idea of the style of gameplay. While it has roots in historical education, I am hoping this game doesn't fly too far under the radar. For more information, check out their website.

Leak points to Mass Effect: Andromeda’s interesting new direction

Leak points to Mass Effect: Andromeda’s interesting new direction

The Mass Effect games have always been about humanity trying to prove itself in a universe full of aliens, but a new leak suggests Mass Effect: Andromeda is looking to push this even further.

A survey posted on NeoGAFreads, “Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in hostile territory–where WE are the aliens–opposed by a deadly indigenous race bent on stopping us.”

In another portion, it continues, saying “There is a major battle brewing, and it awaits you. It is unfolding across a galaxy of planets, with creatures and species entirely unknown. Draw your weapon, because the fight is bigger than you thought. It’s not just for your own life, it’s for all of humanity–the ultimate battle for a place we can all call home.”

The idea of humanity being an outsider is nothing new, but exploring the hostility that rises from that is. The original Mass Effect game took place after humanity’s war with the Turians. But it appears Andromeda will be tackling a similar subject matter head on.

It’s an interesting choice, especially considering real-world modern history, and the volatility and colonialism that shaped it. Placing humanity as a whole in a fight for territory against an indigenous population certainly has the chance to make for some complex and emotional storytelling, if not also a, potentially, politically charged game.

Elsewhere in the survey, even more emphasis is placed on the explorative aspect of the sequel. “Experience the freedom to traverse and explore a planet-dense but seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery. Play as the leader of a squad of military-trained explorers in an intense third-person shooter, with deep progression and customization systems. This is the story of humanity’s next chapter, and player choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival in the Andromeda galaxy.”

Though originally meant to release this fall, Bioware recently delayedMass Effect: Andromeda to 2017. As we learn more about the game, you’ll find it all right here on Gamespresso.

Bastion Developer Has A New Game Coming, Here's What We Know

Bastion Developer Has A New Game Coming, Here's What We Know

A new action-RPG for the PlayStation 4 and PC called Pyre is set for release in 2017 from Supergiant Games, the creator of Bastion and Transistor .

. The new title will be a party-based RPG where players will venture through a mystical purgatory on a journey to absolve themselves of being exiles.

GameSpotdetails more of the game by explaining that players will start with a character at the near brink of death in the wondrous but dangerous land where exiles are attempting to escape from purgatory. In order to get out there's a competition that is held between exiles, where the worthiest of the group will be granted absolution of their past transgressions and the right to be free of being an exile. What makes the game different from others is that the other party of exiles will be fighting for their freedom just like your own characters, so there's something at stake for everyone involved, creating a very dynamic story arc for the character development.

Players will be able to gather up a worthwhile party of characters of all shapes and sizes, with the game utilizing combat and gameplay not unlike what was featured in past Supergiant Games such as Bastion and Transistor , with real-time combat, dynamic magic and attacks being at the disposal of players. You can get an idea of what the gameplay, graphics and visual aesthetic is like with the trailer below.

Graphically, the game is very intriguing. The mix of 3D models in what looks like hand-painted backgrounds gives the game a very artsy feel. The animations of the traveling caravan that players will use to venture throughout the world gives the game a fun-filled look, and the hint of yet another awesome original soundtrack from Supergiant (and presumably Darren Korb?) could help put Pyre up there as another noteworthy game from the independent developer.

The new title appears to take a mix of elements from both Bastion and Transistor , with the real-time combat and the arcane magic. I'll admit that Transistor was a little harder to get into because there was a lot of backstory and subtext happening within the world that required a lot more exposition than what was present in the early goings of the game. The awesome retro-tone, futuristic society and circuit-board art-deco aesthetic that highlighted the architecture and technology of Transistor is what helped make it stand out and draw me in as a player, but Bastion was definitely the easier game to follow and seemed to have some very emotional stakes for players to invest in throughout the game's story.

Hopefully Supergiant can find a nice balance between the cool visuals of Transistor (which they appear to have managed to accomplish based on the Pyre trailer above) and the story gravitas of Bastion to really nail another home run with the upcoming title.

You can look for Pyre , the isometric, party-based RPG to go live in 2017 for PC and PS4.

Edge Of Nowhere Teaser Is Action-Packed And Chilling

Edge Of Nowhere Teaser Is Action-Packed And Chilling

Insomniac Games has been on a roll lately with announcing their VR content, such as their upcoming brawler Feral Rites , and now they’ve released a new teaser for the third-person VR adventure game, Edge Of Nowhere .

. Check it out below.

Edge Of Nowhere tells the story of a man by the name of Victor Howard who is searching for his long, lost fiance in the cold and dangerous expanse of Antarctica. Insomniac Games notes that Victor will have to cling to his notion of reality as he succumbs to moments of utter madness while facing a slew of horrifying creatures and natural hazards, all in the name of the one he loves. You will battle unknown beasts, endure the fury of the natural world and fight against insanity while trying to decipher the twisting world around you—all in virtual reality.

When I played Kholat , which was also set in a cold and snowy environment, I had to find clues as to what happened to the hikers that disappeared there. My purpose just seemed a little less urgent, like I can take my time finding these clues and there's no sense of danger. It was comfortable exploration. But in Edge Of Nowhere , you're on a mission to help Victor find his missing fiance and suddenly there's this very unnerving sense of urgency. Will she die before I get to her? Is she already dead? I need to know! And that sense of urgency is what would drive me through the game until my questions are answered.

It’s one thing to hang from a cliff holding a PS4 controller and watching on a TV screen, but it’s a whole other experience when you’ve got a VRheadset on and you’re looking down past your feet at the ground below, hundreds of feet away. Something tells me this game will take the VRexperience to the next level, utilizing it in a way that plays on your fears and emotions. Games like this produce excitement for those who haven’t had the opportunity to experience an environment like this in VR.

I've played a couple games that have taken place in snowy environments now, Kona and Kholat, and I can understand why so many horror game developers are jumping at the chance to take advantage of this environment. Places like Antarctica or the far north present this chilling sense of isolation and fear, knowing you are nowhere near help if you need it. The cold is also, as I believe, worse than being hot and its horribly uncomfortable, so this is communicated with the player as they watch their character traverse the cold and barren landscape. Honestly, I'm not sick of the cold and snowy atmosphere yet and I'm interested to see how other games utilize it.

Edge Of Nowhere was originally announced last year at E3 2015 and has since stayed pretty quiet. The game is set to release June 6 for the Oculus Rift. If you would like more information, head over to the official website.

New Stellaris Trailer Showcases Space Exploration At Its Finest

New Stellaris Trailer Showcases Space Exploration At Its Finest

Paradox has launched a new trailer for Stellaris , focusing on the importance of exploration in this upcoming space conquest game.

, focusing on the importance of exploration in this upcoming space conquest game. In short, you’ll need to use every trick in the book if you hope to rule the galaxy.

The trailer boasts a handy AI guiding you through the intricacies of colonization in Paradox’s Stellaris . He explains that you’ll need to fall back on some key principles of the genre to get survive, including exploration, colonization, conquest and diplomacy. Start thinking Civilization in spaceand you’ve got the basic idea.

In Stellaris , you’ll start off nice and small, responsible only for your home planet. There’s no fun in staying grounded, though, so you’ll soon take to the stars in an effort to gain more resources, set up additional civilizations and the like.

Your helpful AI explains that life in this universe is plentiful and varied, so you’ll be working with (or against) everything from other humanoids to floaty tentacle space creatures. “Each species comes with their own unique characteristics, ideologies and charm,” explains the trailer, so you’ll have to rely on a variety of tactics to either gain their favor, take control or run away with your tail tucked between your leg.

One nifty feature is that you won’t be able to openly engage newfound races in diplomacy. While your scholars take the time to learn their language, you’ll be free to continue your expansion into the galaxy, relying on friendly or more violent means of “dialogue.” How you behave in these instances will determine how various alien races respond to you in the future, so you could be making powerful allies or enemies that will stop at nothing to wipe you off of the star map.

Just like in Civilization or Europa Universalis , your goal is to set up a galactic empire that will stand the test of time. In Stellaris , that means reaching out further and further into space while simultaneously defending the planets and resources you have already claimed. Just because you try not to use your armada too often doesn’t mean that you don’t need a strong force to deal with invaders when the need arises. Your AI tour guide says,
The galaxy before you is vast and full of wonders. And it is yours for the taking.
Set to arrive May 9, you can pre-order Paradox Interactive’snew space exploration game now by visiting the official website. That’s where you’ll find all sorts of extra information on additional game features, including Anomaly Events, the procedural galaxy, ship design, and multiplayer that supports up to a whopping 32 players.

If you’re tired of fighting in the trenches in games like Call of Duty and Battlefield and want to take your conquest onto a grander scale, Stellaris might be just what you’re looking for.

Horror Game The Park Presents Every Mother's Worst Nightmare

Horror Game The Park Presents Every Mother's Worst Nightmare

Horror game The Park was originally released onto PC back in October of last year and has earned overly positive reviews on Steam.

was originally released onto PC back in October of last year and has earned overly positive reviews on Steam. And now, developer Funcom has announced that the creepy horrortitle will finally be coming to consoles.

In The Park , you play as a mother who has lost her child somewhere in a creepyamusement park. Your ultimate goal is, of course, to find the child and get the heck out of the park. Check out the trailer below.

It’s no secret that there’s a certain kind of uneasiness that resides in a theme park, from the overly-animated clowns to the dark corners of the funhouse. The Park takes that idea and runs away with it, creating this horrifyingsetting riddled with everyone’s worst nightmare. Silent Hill played around with the idea of a terrifying theme park, and it was called Lakeside Amusement Park. You might even remember Pyramid Head controlling the carousel in the second Silent Hill feature film. There’s also an abandoned theme park in Chernobyl called Pripyat Amusement Park and it stands as a symbol of the Chernobyl disaster. I'm also pretty sure there was a Scooby Doo episode that took place at an amusement park after hours. So obviously, amusement parks can easily become the setting of any horroradventure because they can be so damn creepy .

But maybe the most interesting aspect of this game is the subject matter: a mother loses her child in an unsettling amusement park. Not only is it every mother’s worst fear to lose track of her child, but to do so in a seemingly abandoned amusement park? That’s 100 times worse. Plus, when you've got psycho clowns running amok and who knows what else hiding out in the shadows, it's definitely not a place you want to be alone. I haven't seen too many horrorgames correctly and successfullly utilize the amusement park setting, not since Goosebumps' Escape From Horrorland PC game, at least. It's fair to say there was a pretty good amusement park map in the first Left 4 Dead that did it well, where the zombies would follow you onto the tracks of the rollercoaster, but honestly it's not a setting I see too often (in comparison to, say, insane asylums). I'm glad a horrorgame is finally taking advantage of it.

The Park will be releasing on to PS4 and Xbox One on May 3. For more information, you can visit Funcom’s official website.

New Batman Collection Reportedly Leaked By GameStop Employee, Here's What We Know

New Batman Collection Reportedly Leaked By GameStop Employee, Here's What We Know

Well it looks like folks who missed out on the original Batman Arkham games might have the opportunity to play them all over again, complete with spruced up graphics and a bunch of extra goodies.

If this rumor turns out to be true, we should be hearing something official soon. That’s because, according to the original story posted on Eurogamer, folks will be able to start pre-ordering Batman: Return to Arkham on April 19.

According to the original story, this leak comes to us from a GameStopemployee who just couldn’t keep their mouth (or phone’s camera) shut. What appears to be an official announcement to store employees shows off a bit of artwork for the game, along with information pertaining to what Return to Arkham has to offer.

For starters, the pack is said to include the original games in the series, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City . Those games will boast “updated visuals optimized for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
, as well as all DLC previously released for those games.

Also included in that update is the fact that you can “pre-order form 19th April 2016,” which is basically right about now. As for the game’s supposed release date, we can apparently expect to see these beefed up Arkham games on store shelves right around E3 2016 on June 10.

According to the story, those images were sent directly to Eurogamer from the GameStop employee, so at least the chain of communication is a short one. That also makes it appear more likely that such a game combining the original Arkham games actually exists but, again, it’s not like we’ll have to wait long to see if it holds up.

In case you’re curious as to why Arkham Origins isn’t on the list, it’s because that game was actually made by Warner Brothers’ Montreal studio and is therefore kind of the black sheep of the collection. Also, Arkham Knight was already on the PS4 and Xbox One, so it makes no sense that it would be included in this kind of package. Both of these games, held by many to be the best in the series, came from the team at Rocksteady.

As a matter of semantics, we’re refusing to call this an “HD collection.” For starters, the game is called Return to Arkham , according to the supposed GameStop release, not Arkham HD . Secondly, last-gen games were already in high definition. They’re apparently getting a graphical boost, sure, but then the proper terminology should be something ridiculous like HD-er, as in it’s more HD than HD. But that’s just silly, yes?

So, thoughts, concerns or questions? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

It has been a long time since gamers were first introduced to the world of Mirror’s Edge.

It has been a long time since gamers were first introduced to the world of Mirror’s Edge. It is just a shame that it has taken eight years to get a new story in the series. Now we’ll finally get to see the origins of Faith Connors in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, but she’ll have some tough enemies to face.

With a totalitarian rule on her city, there are a lot soldiers and other baddies who will try and stop her at all costs.on the Mirror’s Edge blog shows off a number of these enemies. While there are many low threat Guardians representing the rule of KrugerSec, there are also much tougher adversaries, such as the Enforcers and Sentinels. While both deadly, they have very different styles. The Enforcers specialize in ranged weaponry, while the Sentinels will challenge any runner in hand-to-hand combat.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be released on May 24th for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Check out the image gallery of all the enemies below.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3's Newest Trailer Highlights The Eclipse Map Pack

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3's Newest Trailer Highlights The Eclipse Map Pack

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is gearing up to drop a new map pack on runners and gunners, with a brand new trailer celebrating the new locales being offered in the “Eclipse” DLC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will soon receive its second major DLC pack, this time including a quartet of new multiplayer maps and a brand new zombie map for players to shoot their way through. It’s called the “ Eclipse Pack,” and it boast a pretty hefty collection of fresh stomping ground for players to explore.

To celebrate the impending launch of the Eclipse Pack, Activisiontoday launched a new trailer highlighting the multiplayer maps getting plugged into BlOps III when the DLC hits the PlayStation 4 this Tuesday, April 19, and Xbox One next month. In case those dates seem odd, consider this your friendly reminder that Activision set up a partnership with Sony this generation that’s basically identical to the one they had with Microsoft last generation. In other words, pretty much everything coming to Black Ops III post launch will hit PlayStation 30 days before Xbox.

As for those maps you’ll be getting in the Eclipse Pack, first up Verge, which is a retooled version of Banzai from World at War . That throwback map will be joined by a trio of completely new offerings including spire, Knockout and Rift. Spire is set in a sub-orbital airport while Knockout is set in, of all places, a martial arts arena. Finally, Rift ups the insanity factor with a military facility suspended over an active volcano.

Verge, Banzai and Knockout are all set in bright, sunny locales while Rift looks more like something we’re used to seeing in the Killzone franchise, including dark and sinister buildings hovering next to glowing red magma and air thick with ash.

And in case you forgot what the Zetsubou No shimazombie map looks like, here’s a refresher.

That zombie-infested romp comes as part of the Eclipse package, giving players new undead enemies to blast their way through spread across a pretty terrifying looking island set somewhere in Asia.

Not to throw shade at the standard Call of Duty action, honestly, some of the stuff the team is doing with the zombie maps is far more interesting to me than another tale of political espionage, double-crosses and soldiers struggling with following orders or doing “what feels right.” I know the next Call of Duty is supposed to be set in space, but maybe the one after that can be a grindhouse-inspired campaign that gives full attention to monstrous baddies instead of waves of soldiers? Just a thought.

The city of Glass is “a very near future city,” level artist Linnea Harrisson explains of Mirror’s Edge Catalysts setting. “It’s something we can relate to…”

For the newest video in DICE’s dev diary series, the developer offers up just what makes the Glass so unique, and how it is a vital part of what makes the game’s protagonist, Faith, who she is. “The city of Glass is a city with a lot of history, and we’ve tried to build that,” level designer Terrance Cronin says. “For example, we have a downtown section, which is very much like old school Mirror’s Edge, the grittiness and creaky pipes. But then we have these new parts of the city, that are brand new, super glossy, reflective.”

Explaining how that ties into the game’s narrative, “There’s a ruling conglomerate, the authorities. And they are very keen on putting a nice touch on things, a nice façade,” Narrative Director Christopher Emgård says. With all of that as a backdrop, Faith, recently released from prison, then finds herself pulled into conflicts, and is forced to choose a side.

A first-person free-running game, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is due out May 24 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. What do you think of Glass? Is it somewhere you’re excited to spend some time in? Let us know in the comments.

Dark Souls III's Newest Trailer Celebrates Why It's Been Dubbed Bandai Namco's Fastest Selling Title

Dark Souls III's Newest Trailer Celebrates Why It's Been Dubbed Bandai Namco's Fastest Selling Title

Bandai Namco released a new trailer for Dark Souls III to celebrate the game's launch.

to celebrate the game's launch. Think of it as a post-launch celebration trailer. It covers the game's accolades in digital media, while showcasing some of the bosses and Gothic imagery for which the game has become renown.

The trailer isn't just out there for the accolades, though. It was released as part of Bandai's announcement that Dark Souls III has become one of the fastest selling games in their publishing catalog. They posted the video to their official YouTube accountas a form of recognition for this accomplishment. You can check it out below.

The trailer features the song “Kingdom Fall” from artist Claire Wyndham. Her melodic voice guides a rather somber song through an equally dark collage of violence and combat. It's a nice contrast of beautiful vocals versus the hacking and slashing taking place in Dark Souls III .

I do have to say that throughout the media campaign for From Software's third outing in the venerable action-RPG series, Bandai Namco has been keen on utilizing music and well timed editing to sell Dark Souls III as a must-have title for fans of dark medieval fantasy.

The press release doesn't exactly say how much the game has sold; it's aversion to hard numbers is a little troubling. Nevertheless, Bandai states that it had an “incredibly strong” first week on market when it comes to sales and that it's breaking records with day-one sales, becoming one of the best selling launches in Bandai Namco Entertainment's history.

Now, the press release may be bereft of sales figures, but that doesn't mean we can't get an idea of the scope of game's sales figures with a few different resources. For instance, according to Steam Spy, Dark Souls III has shifted more than 630,000 digital units. Now given that Chucklefish had mentioned that Steam Spy was a little short on counting the sales figures for Stardew Valley (they were off by about nearly 80,000 units) it's very well possible that Dark Souls III may have moved even more units for PC than what Steam Spy is reporting.

If we couple those estimates with the very rough figures from VG Chartz, it easily puts the game near the million mark. It's likely that they've already moved a couple of million units within the first week, and that's not counting the digital sales. I'm not exactly sure why they don't reveal a ballpark figure but I'm certain Dark Souls III is right up there with the rest of the AAA titles as far as first week sales figures are concerned.

What's interesting here is that they previously stated that this would be the last game in the series, but with such a strong market for these kind of games, would Bandai Namco really let the series end here? We do know that some new DLC will be on the way to tide gamers over, but once that's done with, will that really be all?

Some gamers are already looking forward to Bloodborne 2 , so From Software could have their hands full with that in the near future. For now, they get to rest easy knowing that they have a massive success on their hands with Dark Souls III .
