Earlier this week some members of the PlayStation MVP program started reporting that they were receiving emails from Sony informing them that the company was shutting down the program soon. Gamers won’t like that news.
And now Sony has officially confirmed it. The PlayStation MVP program is really being shut down. As of April 18th the company will no longer actively support the PlayStation MVP program. Members will no doubt be sad to learn of this news.
The PlayStation MVP program wasn’t open to everyone, so if you have never heard of it, it obviously does not affect you. People had to apply if they wanted to be a part of program. Members got to host exclusive game events and tournaments, create content like help articles and walk-throughs for gamers on PlayStation forums and share their opinion on PlayStation products through panels and discussion groups with the PlayStation Community Management Team. That’sallover now.
Apparently since January there hasn’t been much activity in the program, so that would explain the decision to end it. If no one is using a program, it doesn’t make much sense to continue, so Sony just put it out of its misery. I’m sure it was fun while it lasted.
