Metro: Last Light, Outlast Scare Up Some Fun On PS Plus This Week

Things that go bump in the night will be the flavor of the week for PlayStation Plus as the Instant Game Collection gets a heaping helping of scare-tastic goodness with Metro: Last Light for the PlayStation 3 and Outlast on the PlayStation 4.

on the PlayStation 4. There will also be a couple of discounts subscribers might want to take advantage of.

Last week we announcedthat PlayStation Plus would once again be pulling out all of the stops with another monster of a month in February and, this week, they’re getting the ball rolling with two new games for the IGC spread across the PS3 and PS4 at no additional cost to your Plus subscription. Announced this weekend via the PlayStation Blog, players will be fighting for survival through both of this week’s offerings including the latest game in the Metro series and a brand new launch on the PS4, Outlast .

In Metro: Last Light , players will have to make every bullet count in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by marauders and unspeakable creatures.

“Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above,” reads the blog listing. “But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6.”

Sadly, it’s not that hard to believe that, faced with ultimate destruction, human would continue to fight amongst themselves over a device that could finish the job. If you’re looking for tense, gritty FPS action, then you can add Metro: Last Light to your PS3 library once the Plus update goes live tomorrow afternoon.

If, by chance, you prefer your horror to involve less guns and more “poop your pants” moments of terror, then maybe the PS4’s new game, Outlast , will be more your speed. The game takes place in a first-person view, but you’re basically helpless in this scare-a-minute tour of a deranged asylum. Your one goal is to survive as long as possible so, yeah, good luck with that.

Finally, Plus subscribers can enjoy a couple of discounts this week, beginning with the latest game in the Vita Play Sale, Dustforce . You can grab this tough-as-nails platformer for $7.99 once the PlayStation Network update goes live Tuesday afternoon. Adam’s Venture Chronicles will also be discounted to $9.59 just for the hell of it, and the game’s soundtrack will be free for Plusers.
