The Division Glitch Has Players Dual-Wielding A Riot Shield And Machine Gun

There's a new glitch that's been floating around in Ubisoft's The Division .

. The glitch enables users to use both their primary weapon and a riot shield at the exact same time. The shield is useful for absorbing a lot of projectile damage and the primary weapons are good for dishing out a lot of damage.

As you can imagine, having both a shield and your primary machine gun out at the same time can make you a fairly over-powered opponent both against NPCs and against other players in PvP when you're scouring through the Dark Zone. GamesRadarpicked up on the news from a video made by YouTuber Extended Celery. You can check out the video below.

So what exactly do you need to do the glitch? Well, first you'll need to be able to have the Seeker Mines skill and you'll also need a Ballistics Shield skill.

If you take out your Ballistics Shield and then roll a Seeker Mine you can then switch to your two main primary weapons in The Division . As demonstrated in the video above, the glitch is fairly easy to pull off and you can repeat it anytime that you actually need it. However, if you attempt to sprint while using the shield and primary weapon combination, it will automatically switch you back to your sidearm.

The trick is to not to sprint while you have out the shield and primary weapon so that you can take a whole lot of damage and dish out just as much. This is most definitely a very beneficial exploit for hardcore players of The Division because it enables them to blast through some fairly difficult areas while taking down enemies with their high-powered primary weapons... including shotguns.

This sort of method would also likely be useful for boss fights, given that most of the bosses in the game deal out some pretty hefty damage and they can down a player in just a few hits. Using the shield you can take a bit more punishment than usual and then deal it back to your opponents with your primary.

I can't imagine a glitch like this lasting for too long because Ubisoft will likely have a hotfix for it soon or it will go at the top of the list of things to fix in the next major patch that might likely roll out with the scheduled maintenance.

For MMOs like The Division players are always going to be finding new bugs, glitches and exploits to take advantage of during the game. Surprisingly, Bungie was able to keep the exploitation of glitches to a minimum in Destiny . Then again the game was extremely restricted in where you could go and what you could do. Ubisoft took an almost similar approach with The Division but they have a lot more options to explore and definitely more customization to exploit in the game.

The Division is available right now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. If you're still on the fence about the game there's a reviewup and available right here at Gaming Blend.
