DC Is Making These 11 Superhero Movies Between Now And 2020

While Marvel hunkers down for a Civil War , Warner Bros and DC just answered by laying out their complete movie plan through 2020 – including standalone films for The Flash, Aquaman and multiple Justice League movies.

Warner Bros. CEO Ken Tsujihara made the announcement during a Time Warner Investor Day presentation (via Deadline), where it was revealed that Zack Snyder’swas just the tip of the massive iceberg – a block of content that will keep DC in the movie business through 2020. The studio revealed that at least 11 movies have been confirmed for release, going so far as to announce Justice League 2 in 2019, and Cyborg and Green Lantern movies in 2020.

The titles confirmed for future movies include:

2016
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Suicide Squad movie (the studio is said to be in discussions with four A-list stars for the parts).

2017
Wonder Woman and Justice League Part 1 , directed by Zack Snyder

2018
The Flash and Aquaman

2019
Shazam with Dwayne Johnson (as Black Adam) and Justice League 2

2020
Cyborg and Green Lantern

This appears to be the first major shoe to drop with regards to the DC Cinematic Universe (which needs a new nickname now that it is officially becoming a thing). We have been collecting casting news over the past few months, but it appears that more will be dropping soon with the confirmation of these standalone projects -- all feeding into the larger Justice League movies.

And when you take a moment to step back and analyze, you begin to realize that a lot of these puzzle pieces had been placed on the table already. Wonder Woman's origin storyhas been explained (sort of). We know the members of the Suicide Squad(allegedly). We even have a good idea what Aquaman will look like.

We expect several more chunks of very important information to drop as this news starts to settle in. We'll need major casting announcements for The Flash and Aquaman, if they are eyeballing 2018 release dates. And each project needs a director. Also, who is the guiding hand behind this film universe? Who is the Kevin Feige of the DC world? I hope that they have a clear vision, and that this isn't just a response to the work that Marvel is doing on the other side of town.

More on this story as it continues to develop.
