Electronics enthusiasts but are looking for a tiny open source Linux wireless computer that is the size of a coin may be interested in the RobinCore computer that has launched by the Indiegogo crowdfunding website this month.
Created by a team of developers in China the RobinCore takes the form of an open source mini PC that is capable of running Linux and is equipped with a 720p Video Encoder together with 150Mbps WIFI and GPIOs.
Its creators explain a little more about what you can expect as far as components and specifications for the RobinCore which is aiming to raise $7000 over the next 30 days with pledges starting from just $15 plus shipping.
RobinCore is a tiny ARM Computer with WIFI runs openWRT, it uses a high integration SOC Hi3518E(ARM926@440MHz) from the HiSilicon and a powerful WIFI chip(MT7601U),there is a H.264 encoder(720p@30fps) and 64MB DDR2 integrated in Hi3518E.RobinCore has a 16MB NOR Flash,USB2UART chip,it provides many interfaces such as 10/100M Ethernet,UART,I2C,SPI,SDIO,ADC,PWM,JTAG and GPIOs,but its size is about 1.38 square inch (33 X 27 mm), the interface spacing is 2.0mm,and the USB interface is used for a USB2UART debug port and power supply,so,Just need an ordinary USB cable,we can easily develop software with robincore.
