The first of Battlefront’s four planned DLC packs, Outer Rim brings new maps, new characters, and a new mode. Promised for release sometime this month, DICE has detailedjust what gamers will be getting when Outer Rim drops.
Headlining the DLC, Tatooine and Sullust are both getting new map variants. “Blast enemies in the smelting factory or along the industrial pipes and platforms of Sullust or fight through Jabba’s throne room and sail barge garage on Tatooine,” DICE teases. If it can be assumed from that description that we will be getting four new maps, that fits with DICE’s commitment to 16 new maps across all four of the DLC packs.
Though already shown off in the DLC’s key art, it was confirmed Greedo (of ‘Han shot first’ fame) and Nien Nunb, Lando Calrissian’s co-pilot from Return of the Jedi, will be joining the fray as two new heroes.
Adding to Battlefront’s already large list of game modes, Outer Rim will also introduce Extraction. “Rebel forces have entered some of the most dangerous places in the Outer Rim in order to extract a valuable shipment of resources. Now they must bring the shipment to their transport ship before time runs out. The Empire has arrived to stop them from reaching the extraction point.”
And if that wasn’t enough, the DLC is also adding two new weapons, the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol, and three new star cards, the Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim.
DICE has previously saidseason pass holders will receive two weeks early access to DLC before it goes on sale individually.
