Xiaomi is one of the most popular smartphone brands globally with strong presence not just in China but in India as well. The company managed to sell around 70 million smartphones last year, and analyst has released some numbers for the performance of the Chinese manufacturer for this year.
According to IHS Technology’s analyst Kevin Wang, Xiaomi managed to sell 14.8 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2016. This number also includes the sales of the company in other markets where it operates as well
Last year, the sales number in the first quarter was quite close to this figure, and it should rise in the coming months as the company recently launched its latest flagship device, the Xiaomi Mi5, as well as other Redmi 3 smartphones as well.
These are not the only devices, the company is also expected to introduce a few more handsets in the coming months, including the Xiaomi Note 2 in the second half of the year.
Xiaomi devices are quite limited to a few key markets at the moment. The launch of the handsets in other markets in the coming month can definitely help the company boost its sales, and try to take their spot back from Huawei, which surpassed it in terms of smartphone sales.
