Following on from its successful crowdfunding campaign that helped Jolla raise more than $2.5 million via Indiegogo. The company has this week announced it has started shipping the first Jolla Tablet devices to developers.
Jolla has also confirmed that consumer Jolla Tablets will also start being shipped out later this year all of which will be supplied running the Sailfish 2.0operating system.
To re-cap the Jolla Tablet is equipped with a 7.85 inch IPS display, sporting a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Powered by an Intel Atom quad-core, 64-bit processor supported by 2GB of RAM with 32GB of storage that can be expanded further using the microSD card slot.
Other features include a 2 megapixel front facing camera for video calling, together with a 5 megapixel rear facing for video and photographs. As well as a powerful 4300mAh battery, Connectivity is provided by 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS and the initial early bird tablets were available to pledge for from $189. Jolla is also planning to launch a software developer kit with new tablet-specific features and even thought it is now pulling out go creating hardware directly to focus on its Sailfish operating system directly.
